Looking for depth at the safety and defensive tackle positions, the Rams claimed S Anthony Smith and DT LaJuan Ramsey on waivers Sunday, according to league sources.
Smith was released by Green Bay over the weekend; Ramsey was cut by Tennessee. Smith started 10 day games for Pittsburgh in 2007 but was signed by Green Bay following the 2008 season. Ramsey, 6-3, 300, originally was a sixth-round pick by Philadelpia in 2006, Ramsey has appeared in 19 regular-season games with the Eagles and Indianapolis, recording 24 tackles and one interception.
It’s believed the Rams have released linebacker Quinton Culberson and wide receiver Nate Jones to make room for Smith and Ramsey on the 53-man roster.
