The last “real” practice before Sunday’s season-opener is under way at Rams Park. And it appears that the starting lineups on both sides of the ball finally are in place. Here’s how the St. Louis Rams are expected to lineup when they take on the Seahawks in Seattle:

    WR: Donnie Avery, Laurent Robinson

    TE: Randy McMichael

    DEFENSE:

    RDE: Chris Long

    T: Gary Gibson

    T: Clifton Ryan

    LDE: Leonard Little

All for now . . . more after practice.

Our team has been 3-13 and 2-14 the last 2 seasons. Who am I to challenge any of the names that Spags has announced as starters.

Folks let's face it we need changes and lots of them. It's not like we were 1 or 2 guys away from being a playoff team.

No matter the outcome at Seattle on Sunday I like what I'm reading about Spags and his style.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

I’m hoping for the best but I’m with you on this one. It’s going to take time right now I don’t see allot of talent on the roster.

I'm not too concerned about the D line...but now that I actually see a line up of the defense, I kinda cringe.

I would also like to see who is returning kicks. It would be kinda cool if Avery returned them, but that would increase the chance of him gettin injured.

laurent robinson is really good at returning kicks in madden 10. I know madden isn't real, but i think he has ability to return kicks and punts from what ive heard about his speed. I would rather see him in there than stanley.

if he is good in madden, he should be fine in the real deal. let's give him a try. Who has been returning balls in preseason?

Pretty much everyone got a chance to return kicks in the preseason, Utter. Gado, Darby and Stanley I think are the top three in some order.

As for the D line, I'm not worried, Gibson might not be a household name, but he came with Flajole from Carolina, so he knows the defense, and the coach obviously knows he can be good. He's been the starter ever since Carriker went down as well.
                              I believe!:ram:

On the second days of OTAs, here’s how the St. Louis Rams lined up their No. 1 units:

                                OFFENSE

                                QB: A.J. Feeley

                                RB: Kenneth Darby

                                FB: Mike Karney

                                C: Jason Brown

                                RG: Adam Goldberg

                                RT: Phil Trautwein

                                LG: John Greco

                                LT: Jason Smith

                                TE: Billy Bajema

WR: alternating between Laurent Robinson, Brandon Gibson, Danny Amendola and Donnie Avery.

                                DEFENSE

DE: Chris Long and James Hall

DT: Clifton Ryan and Fred Robbins

                                MLB: James Laurinaitis

                                SLB: Na’il Diggs

                                WLB: Bobby Carpenter

S: James Butler and Craig Dahl

CB: Ron Bartell and Justin King

Of course, a number of prospective starters are missing, including RB Steven Jackson, G Jacob Bell, TE Daniel Fells and S Oshiomogho Atogwe. Also, bear in mind that coach Steve Spagnuolo won’t automatically anoint a rookie as a stater. But that’s how they’re aligned at this point.

                                Notes & quotes:

*Spagnuolo said he’s been pleased with Carpenter, acquired in a trade for Alex Barron. “He’s more athletic than I thought,” Spagnuolo said. “He did some things today as the nickel (weakside) linebacker that I thought stood out.”

*Long-snapper Chris Massey had clean-up surgery on his knee a week ago and won’t be on the field until training camp.

*Rookie TE Fendi Onobun made an acrobatic catch on a crossing pattern. Also, second-year WR Brooks Foster leaped high for a tough grab on the sideline.

*Several players hustled to the airport after practice. The team will reassemble Monday when OTAs resume.

                                All for now…

Rams Roster, Last Day: How do you count to 53?

                                :ram: Alright...

First Friday in September. Final day for the big roster trimming -- a very difficult task, especially when the numbers are dwindling to only ten or seven players left to select. We've already discussed some names for the 2009 team ... but now ...

How do YOU count to 53? ;)

Without elaborating as to 'why' for now (you can of course), my tentative, incomplete guess / wish list follows:

                                OFFENSE (26)
QB -- Marc Bulger; Kyle Boller; Brock Berlin

OL -- Alex Barron LT; Jacob Bell, LG; Jason Brown, C; Richie Cogs, RG/C; Jason Smith, RT // Roger Alen III G; Renardo Foster, T; Adam Goldberg, T; John Greco, G; Mark Seterstrom, G
TE -- Randy McMichael; Daniel Fells

                                DEFENSE (21)
DE -- Victor Adeyanju; Leonard Little; Chris Long; Eric Moore
DT -- Adam Carriker; Clifton Ryan; Darrell Scott
LB -- Quinton Culberson; Larry Grant; James Laurinaitis; Will Witherspoon; David Vobora // K.C. Asiodu [...you go, Ekenemchukwu!]
CB -- Ron Bartell; Quincy Butler; Justin King; Jonathan Wade
S -- Atogwe, Oshiomogho; James Butler; Todd Johnson; David Roach

                                SPECIAL T (3)

                                K -- Josh Brown
                                P -- Donnie Jones

                                PRACTICE SQUAD
                                Keith Null, QB
                                Mark Rubin, SS

As I said, difficult indeed. Help me out! :o

                                • Alex Barron, LT - His spree of drive killing penalties comes to an end.
                                • Kyle Boller, QB - Showed us just why he's no longer a Raven.
                                • Randy McMichael, TE - Hasn't played at the level he did in Miami.
                                • Leonard Little, LE - If he's willing to stay for a small contract he gets re-signed, otherwise he goes.
                                • Marc Bulger, QB - His days as a Ram are over, as both parties need a fresh start.
                                • Samkon Gado, RB - Really struggled this season and an upgrade is needed.
                                • Kenneth Darby, RB - Another backup RB who was innefective.

                                Resign
                                • Anyone who isn't being let loose.

                                Free Agents
                                • Jason Campbell, QB, Washington - He still has potential and needs a fresh start. If all else fails, he's a stop gap QB.
                                • Ray Edwards, LE, Minnesota - A solid DE who would immediately help with our pass rush woes.
                                • Jerious Norwood, RB, Atlanta - A speed back who would be a great change of pace for Jackson, and would also lessen his work load.

                                Draft
                                • 1) Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska - Need I say more?
                                • 2) Sean Weatherspoon, OLB, Missouri - A fast sideline to sideline 'backer who wold start immediately. Also has great leadership skills.
                                • 3) Dan LeFevour, QB, Central Michigan - Has a good arm and great mobility. Will take a few years to transition game to the NFL level, but has great potential.
                                • 4) Jared Veldheer, OT, Hillsdale - A massive tackle with surprising agility for his size. Would start immediately at RT.
                                • 5A) Jimmy Graham, TE, Miami - Converted basketball player who has great height and quickness. Has phenominal upside.
                                • 5B) Joique Bell, RB, Wayne State - A back who's both shifty and physical, and can catch passes out of the backfield.
                                • 6) Devin Ross, CB, Arizona - Has good potential for a late round pick and will provide depth.
                                • 7A) O'Brien Schoefield, DE, Wisconsin - A great pass rusher who was a projeccted 2nd or 3r round prospect who tore his ACL at a Senior Bowl practice. He may have to be placed on IR for his first year, but he has the potential to be a late round gem.
                                • 7B) Cord Howard, OG, Georgia Tech - Will provide depth at the guard position.
