  • Seahags didnt beat us, rams killed themselves

We had this game, if we score the 3 points, if we get 11 man and score the block fg, if we didnt get dumb penalties we would have won this game. I am not giving up on this season, We need to play right, and just block a little better and we are going to win

I agree. We had a terrible day full of penalties.

    Next week will be better.

I don't think we win, But the fans would have come away with the feeling like the rams are headed in the right direction

nice excuse. last i check the score was 28 - 0. that means the seahawks beat you. not our issue that your guard got 60 friggin yards in penalties and that your team has no discipline.

I somewhat agree. The Hawks left a lot to be desired in the 1st Half, ESPECIALLY in the 1st Quarter. I agree the Rams shot themselves in the foot a handful of times. That said though, once our offense got on a roll and worked out some bugs the Hawks looked like a much superior team. To shut any team out in the NFL is quite a task in itself I dont care who you are playing.
I thought the St. Louis D showed up strong early on but fell off as the game progressed. Saw Long make some nice plays. Road Warrior James made a lot of quality plays. Laurent looked pretty good as well. I think you guys could get things going in the next couple years with the addition of your next franchise qb and a stud receiver in addition to Jason Smith maturing into your rock on the O Line and a little more discipline.

In the first half, it was anybody's game. Both teams did an admirable job of shooting themselves in the foot. But I think we earned our victory in the second half, therefore I disagree with the premise of this thread.

No one should be giving up on the season after yesterdays game. We may have made plenty of mistakes, but unlike last year, we kept trying. That's a BIG improvement.

Re: Seahags didnt beat us, rams killed themselves

It's interesting that so many people comment that the extra guy on the field negated the blocked FG and subsequent TD but nobody mentions that it probably wouldn't have ever happened without the additional man on the field, especially since the guy who blocked it was by his own admission the guy that wasn't supposed to be on the field.

First, Ah You learned that the Rams had 12 men on the field, negating the play. Second, and most crushing, he discovered that he was the guilty party.

"I didn't know until after I got to the sideline. That's when I realized it," said Ah You, who made the 53-man roster after a strong training camp and was appearing in his first NFL regular-season game.
                    ...
"I wasn't supposed to be out there," he said. "I just wasn't paying attention with the personnel that was out there. It was a mistake on my part, and it cost us."
                    ...
Despite his distress, Ah You at least was able to muster some gallows humor. "I wondered why I came in there so clean," he said. "Now I know."

I think the Hawks were superior, but the Rams have alot of reasons to be excited! First this game showed that no matter what the Rams will never give up! THAT IS HUGE! The Rams have young studs at key positions! The problem I see si that I feel Bulger needs to be replaced sooner rather than later (next years draft perhaps?) I think the Rams will surprise people this year and that by the end of the year teams won't want to play them! Things will gel and when they do you guys will be good!

I agree. St. Louis had chances to win but their calls shot them in the foot. Poor Sportsmanship, and Brown's missed field goal surprised me especially since Brown was always Clutch in big situations...

I figure our next meeting in Edward Jones will probably be a win for you...we got a tough schedule, and us traveling has never been really good.

Like I said before, you and your Rams will come back. Just do us a favor, and kill Arizona's asses. God, I hate them...

Terrible performance plagued with penalties. We could not make ANYTHING happen after OJ and Butler had those INTs. The offense couldn't get anything going. I dont rememeber the exact statistic but I think we had 6-13 drives end in punts, most of them being 3-and-outs. Jaxx did well, but we didn't feed him the ball enough and that needs to change. We had Hasselback right where we wanted him in the first quarter and let him slip away the rest of the game. The FG block that was called back and resulted in a SEA touchdown was a HUGE morale killer going into the half. The o-line did fairly well first half, but couldn't keep it up in the second. I still feel like we aren't getting enough pressure on the QB at all, we need more intricate blitz packages. Spags should come in handy for that ;). Things need to change this weekend against the skins and they better not only for the Rams, but for me too, I live in D.C. I dont wanna hear it from the Skins fans. Come on St. Louis!

We all know that this is a must win for Divison purposes. Obviously for Wildcard contention also. Here's a list of the games this week that have a direct effect on our Rams.

                            Rams (4-4) @ Seattle (5-3)
                            Cowboys (4-4) @ Cardinals
                            Browns @ Falcons (5-3)
                            Packers @ Vikings (4-4)
                            Redskins (3-5) @ Eagles (4-4)
                            Buccaneers @ Panthers (4-4)

This Seattle game is crucial. I predict the Cowboys,Falcons,Vikings,Eagles and Panthers are all going to win this week. So if we are going to keep pace we must win this game!!!!:imho:

the turnovers plus the three plays we didnt make
                            by general counsel
Obviously, the turnovers killed us. You arent going to beat a team as good as kc, home or road, with a minus three differential very often if at all. Throw in a complete inability to stop the run, consecutive moronic false starts on barron and one terrible terrible INT call on ike that cost us a legit shot to win and you have another loss to a quality team. As many of us feared, the 4-1 was largely an illusion, built on the backs of close wins against three of the worst teams in the nfl./

What i want to focus on is the three plays we DIDNT make that dont really show up in the box score. The ball that hit coakley in the numbers that he couldnt catch, costing us 60 yards in field position. The non sack by fisher who whiffed and tripped over his own feet which led to a td rather than a sack right before half and our inability to fall on LJ's fumble despite the fact that we had two guys right on top of the ball.

Playoff caliber teams make plays, .500 teams talk about what ifs. We beat ourselves today both with our own failure to execute and our inability to make plays when we had the chance.

We just arent a playoff team guys. I wont give up, but reality is reality. Our best shot at this point is a win next week and a collapse by seattle which somehow enables us to sneak into the west title, but given our incompetent defense, i just dont see it happening.

Bulger is an all pro. Little is a guy we need to have back. Steven jackson is outstanding. I think OJ stinks. I think he is weak in run support, his coverage is lousy and his ball awareness is beyond awful.

Not much else to say at this point, i could go on indefinitely about 40 yard runs on third and 8 from the goal line, crappy tackling etc, but at this point, i am too disappointed to do so. We didnt give ourselves a chance to win this game, we just didnt make the plays and didnt capitalize when we had a chance.

It really was a terrible call on the ike interference, i do think that we were going in for the tying td and i think we had a great shot to win the game, but you cant say we lost on that call with all the other terrible mistakes we made all day long.

How in the world was this team good enough to win two games this year? How in the world did we beat Dallas and the Skins?

Seriously look at the margin of defeat in 8 of our 9 losses.

                            LOST BY:
                            35
                            28
                            24
                            17
                            21
                            44
                            19
                            24

In 8 of our 9 losses we got beat by 3 scores or greater. I have never seen a team regualarly get there ass kicked like this team does.

                            by general counsel
Lets not kid ourselves. If we want to go to the playoffs, this game is a MUST win. We are at home against a clearly inferior team. Even if we play without The Big Man, there is no way we can afford to lose this game if we want to go to the playoffs. Losing to the whiners was a bad loss, but at least it was a road game. Bad losses at home are a recipe for disaster in the nfl.

We are an impossible fumble away from 1-2, but how we got to 2-1 is irrelevant. At the end of the day, in the nfl, a win is a win and any road win is just fantastic.

Next week is another crucial game, on the road vs. a team we should beat. HOwever, no need to look ahead. We HAVE to take care of business tomorrow if we are interested in a special season. We have plenty of tough games ahead and while every game in the nfl is tough, this have to qualify as one of couple most winnable games of the year. We cant afford a mental letdown and the time has come to convert in the red zone, which is really the single most critical component to us having a playoff season (after health of course).

It makes me mad when everyone talks about how bad the niners are. Yeah they only won 2 games last year but they had a lot of injuries last year..and Rattay is not a bad QB .. does everyone remember when he had 3 straight games with a QB rating of atleast 100 2 years ago.. Yeah they arent the greatest team but this is week one. No one knows how good a team really is. I think the next game will be different.. If we score TD's instead of FG's. then we will win. But this season is far from over..
