cover Chris Cooley well
Find a way to slow down albert haynsworth

So what other adjustment do we need to make.

Also do you think it would benefit the Rams if we add some trick plays to the playbook. In Seattle the LBs were aggressive and blitz often. So the skins are prolly guna do the same. Not necessarily the wild cat. But what about Jackson gets it on a pitch to the right while McMichael goes from left to right down the middle and Jackson throws it?

I think it is the obvious we have to work on you are not going to make a living on tricks plays in the NFL. We need to work on the little things.

i know we need to work on the little things but we can use trick plays to keep the D on its heels to set up those 7-8 yarders.

Fortunately, aside from Haynesworth, the Redskins don't have much of a pass rush. Andre Carter had only 4.5 sacks last season, and the 36-year old Philip Daniels had 2.5 sacks in 2007 before missing all of 2008 with a knee injury. Those are their starting defensive ends. I'd be tempted to test Orakpo's coverage skills as well.

On offense, their weakness (aside from Jason Campbell) is the offensive line. Rattle Campbell and we'll get some turnovers, just like we did last season.

I say run the ball off left tackle many many times, set up the play action and fire to robinson and avery. Their offense is nothing special just watch for randle el they use him in trick plays sometimes, clinton portis should be stuffed at the line as many times as possible we need to rush hard and often their qb is not great we can get a few int's.

I know they don't have much of a pass rush, but the way our line plays, anyone has a pass rush on us.

That's the adjustment we need to make. Better offensive line play. It's the first time that unit played together in a game situation. So I think it'll be better next week.

The biggest adjustment is feed Jackson the ball. He had 16 carries, very little for an offense that was supposed to revolve around running the ball. We ended up being a passing team, something we haven't worked on as much. Give the ball to Jackson and let him take care of things.

We need a pass rush. I don't know what was going on yesterday. Seattle doesn't have a few of their starters, but they still managed to contain us.

Trick plays may or may not be effective, but if we don't improve our ability to execute the fundamentals of our scheme, then trick plays won't have much long-term impact on the defense during the game.

One thing we need to work on is getting better push in the running game. Jason Brown needs to show up this week and back up the statements about Haynesworth he for some reason decided to make earlier this year. He didn't have much of an impact against Seattle, except for that noticeably poor snap early in the game.

If we can't win the battles up front, then we need to find another way of getting Jackson the football. Do a better job at mixing in screens, put him in motion at receiver, try some pitches or swing passes in the flat. He's our best player on offense, so we need to be able to get him the ball in situations where he has a chance to succeed.

Marc Bulger and the Rams receivers will need to do a better job making something happen through the air. I liked the couple of deep shots they took, but I'm tired of the WR run being the one different thing we try. Somehow, the Rams will have to find ways of getting separation in the secondary. Perhaps some more high percentage routes, some crossing patterns or slants. I'd like to see whether this passing game can find success with some designed bootlegs or plays that move the pocket to try and minimize the opposition's pass rush as well.

Defensively, keep up the turnovers. Jason Campbell looked vulnerable in the Redskins' game against the Giants. He fumbled the ball twice, lost one, and was intercepted once. His line is capable of protecting him though, so the Rams will need some stunts or blitzes to be effective; they didn't seem to get much rush against Seattle.

The Redskins do not appear to be a consistently good rushing team this season. They were not productive in the preseason, and Portis averaged under four yards a carry in their Week One game. The Rams did a good job containing the rush in the first half, allowing an average of 3.0 yards per carry on fifteen carries. So they'll need to do their best to keep Portis in check and not allow him to help Campbell out with a strong running game.

On special teams, let's start with keeping only 11 guys on the field at a time. Josh Brown needs to shake off the miss from this weekend and get his leg ready, because last year the Rams needed him to secure a victory. Donnie Jones has a cannon for a leg (is that the right comparison? lol..) and just needs to keep on doin' what he's been doin'.

What adjustments do the Rams need to make against the Skins?

Rather than try to come up with better schemes or exotic plays, how about we just do these three things?

1. Cut down on stupid penalties
2. Find a way to put pressure on their QB.
3. Use Jackson more. 25 carries minimum.

We beat them last year, we can do it again.

Well there is alot we need to do

1. Better interior line play (IMO bench cogs start Setterstrom or Goldberg)
2. Better defensive line play all around
3. Chris Cooley is 10 times better than Jon Carlson we can't let him shred him us up like Carlson
4. Defensively we need to be more aggressive and get more pressure on the QB
5. Offensively we were way to conservative and vanilla, couldn't get anything going
6. NO PENALTIES!!!!! (once again bench Cogs)
7. Our best player only had 16 Touches? What?!!? Get him the Ball anyway you can

I agree. 16 time to Steven Jackson? Did not Billy D say we were building a line
to do that? As for going down field we have to do your 1 and 2 thoughts.

Can't argue with AV's list but I think there ought to be a different approach in coverage as well as better pass rush.

What happened to the bump n' run stuff that a Spags D is also supposed to be known for? You want to be physical? Start by smacking their receivers in the mouth on the LOS. Far too much zone & soft coverage exposed the young LBs and CBs to abuse vs The hags,imo.

If you can stand the pain, look at how far off his man wade especially was playing a lot of the time. Asking these guys to pass off responsibilities from zone to zone or a complex mix of zone and man with multiple WR sets,RB, and TE routes,imo, is kind of like asking a relay sprint team to pass the baton to one another for the first time in the Olympic finals.

I think this might have been an example of a new coaching staff over-thinking their debut & tied their own guys in knots in the process.

OJ's pick is ironically a great example. Watch Wade and Spoon botch the coverage on Burleson. He's running free across the zone & Hass tries to hit him in that seam that Carlson later found to such devastating effect . I don't know whether OJ saw the breakdown or saw Hass see it but he saved their bacon on that one.

I'd rather dare Campbell to throw deep into the only teeth this D has demonstrated so far; namely Butler and Otogwe.Even the normally reliable Bartell looked uncomfortable.

I don't want another agonizing day of watching dink,dink,dunk,boom as the safeties creep up to help. I think that also might help the pass rushers, giving them more time to get to the QB while he waits for the deep stuff to open up.

Let these young guys man up & use their athletic talent & think less.
