  • SJ what is his style?

Someone please describe to me what is SJ running style. Is he a cut back RB, power back? Would you say he is fast or quick? Is he a short yardage back, money on third and one? Great all round back, can he pick up the blitz? Does he create problems as a receiver?

The reason I asked because I really don't know, I watched ED and knew what he was. Watched Faulk and had idea of what he could do on a consistent basis. I just can't figure out SJ, I know what the Rams want him to be just not sure what his style is. I keep hearing this team is built around SJ, but on game day more often then not, he's just not getting enough touches. Yeah I know we fell behind last week, but not until the third quarter was it time to change the game plan.

1st Qtr Play-By-Play touches for SJ
    (14:03) S.Jackson right tackle to SL 16 for 1 yard (C.Redding).
    (11:32) S.Jackson left end to SL 41 for 9 yards (C.Cole).
    (10:54) S.Jackson right guard to SL 43 for 2 yards (P.Kerney; C.Cole).
    (9:29) S.Jackson right tackle to SL 46 for 2 yards (L.Tatupu, L.Hill).
(7:52) S.Jackson right tackle ran ob at SEA 30 for 8 yards.
(2:18) S.Jackson right end pushed ob at SL 44 for 10 yards (J.Babineaux).

    2nd Qtr Play-By-Play for SJ
14:54) S.Jackson right tackle to SEA 18 for 2 yards (J.Babineaux). Official measurement.
(14:24) S.Jackson left guard to SEA 18 for no gain (L.Jackson).
S.Jackson right end to SL 24 for -2 yards (D.Tapp).
    St. Louis Rams at 0:12 1-10-SL 20 (:12) S.Jackson left guard to SL 23 for 3 yards (D.Tapp).

Take a look at the second Qtr. four touches? I'm not commenting on what he was able to get done, just the lack of touches. We are down by seven and SJ gets 4 touches what am I missing is he or is not going to be the center piece of the offense?

He is everything but a good blitz pickup. He has a bad habit of diving at
there feet instead of slamming body to body. It's allways been his downside
    for me.

The Seahawks were stacking the box.

The Rams had a chance but when you try and take what the D gives you and then give up sacks and penalities that set you way back. It's very hard to run on 2nd 25 or 3rd and 19 and so on.

True. That would make sense for the lack of Jackson touches, but we need to really get him the ball more. We only threw to him once, that's gotta change. More screens, more wide out combinations for him.

He's better running outside sometimes than he is at running inside. I don't even consider him a north-south runner. Last year, I thought Antonio Pittman was more of a north-south runner. Jackson likes getting outside against the puny defensive backs so he can stiff arm them to the end zone. He tries to make plays and I appreciate that. That's why some get mad when he "dances". Well, that's the kind of back he is. Always has been. He's trying to make plays, at least.

As for the lack of touches late, the running game wasn't working. The passing game wasn't working. I've said it before and I'll say it again and again. We don't have a good enough passing threat to open up the running lanes for Jax. Simple as that.

THATS WHY SPAGS NEEDS TOP GET THIS OFFENSIVE LINE PLAYING BETTER AND IN SMOOTH UNISON!!

Barron- You look much better on the left side. Keep up the good work
Brown and Bell- BELL IS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT and Brown hasnt stunk up the field but didnt show me anything bright either infact he had some mishaps in the seattle game

JASON SMITH- Your time will come my friend just keep working hard and honest. My question is though. how much time will it take ? Jake Long and Eugene monroe both have seemed to come in quite fine and make the transition from college to NFL. WHen will you SMITH?

COGS- Need I say more ? DO NOT TRY TO WORK WITH THIS GUY GET HIM OUT OF HERE BEFORE HE MAKES IT WORSE!!!

Blitz pick up aside................... SJ is everything but quick in my opinion. He is a smash mouth inside runner, with the speed to beat LB and DB's once he get's into the open field. He also finishes runs by punishing would be tacklers that try and stop him. He does get stopped by the shoestring tackle on occasion which is surprising.

Why would a DB want to get in his way as he's flying down the field and try to tackle him ? Ask Mike Rumph !!!

Great RB in temrs of power and shiftines but his only flaw is his blocking. He neess to take defenders on head strong as oppsed to going for the feet.
