  • 3rd and 2?

Wow i bet we get the 1st down if they gave the ball to Jax. But instead its shotgun, three wide and Jax just stays back to block. If we run it and they stop us with 4th and 1...hell run it again. Good spirited play by the D, and i'm happy about that but i think we gave this one away. Thanks Donnie Avery!!!

Bad playcalling this game. Especially those quick short passes that never go anywhere.

Those quick hit passes worked well earlier in the game, but I agree that on 3rd & 2 you need a different play there. I'm not sure feeding it to Jackson would have worked, but maybe play action out of the I formation to at least make the defense think about it. Unless someone reminds me of something I'm forgetting though, this may have been the only real offensive playcall I wasn't a fan of. I think as these coaches gain experience, they'll become better as well.

I would have liked to see a screen, which was under utilized this game for some reason.

I would have tried that same play to Robinson at least once down there. He looked much bigger than their CB's.

I guess you never expect a drop at the goalline thou.

I have to disagree with you and the others who are spouting off about bad play calling. To me, there was a lot of poor execution by the players on numerous plays throughout the game. Once again, there were too many mistakes and penalties. Now, I would have liked to have seen a bit more run plays called overall, however, that doesn't mean the playcalling was BAD.

I certainly would have given the ball to Jackson. Big mistake in not doing so IMO.

The defense did indeed hunker down in the red zone which was great, but between the twenties they were a sieve and gave up huge chunks of yardage. Still, like you said, very spirited effort today.

Avery was horrible in every aspect of the game. I hope he bounces back because his confidence looks shot.

Avery just needs to hang on to balls! That dude can't hold onto nothing! I blame this loss on him!

I think you also have to look at the rams letting campbell fall forward on the would be safty, or how they got the ball back at midfeild then had to punt to a touchback again, yes it should have been jackson on 3 and 2 but those quick passes werent the worst thing in the world.

No excuses.........9-7 was the score. We are 0-2 let's move on. Usually week #3 is my last straw.

Aren't we are all here because we have a hard time moving on?

We were 4th and 1 with about 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. We were down by 4 points. I really wanted to go for the 4th down conversion. I did not think there was enough time left in the game to punt and stop them.

Did you guys agree with Hazlett's decision at that time?

                        The Critical 3rd Down
                        by r8rh8rmike
3rd and 7 for the Faiders on their own 37 with 2:50 on the clock. After all the horrible play, stupid penalties and a seemingly impossible game to win, how heartbreaking was it to fail to make a stop on that play? A chance at redemption squandered. This was a very painful, cruel loss.

Play Calling Very Questionable here ...
                        by RamsInfiniti
My biggest gripe, among many, with this game is the play calling. All the things that made Boller successful when he came in the game were gone in the second half ...

None of the misdirection passes ...

                        No quick hitters ...

Overuse of Jackson. When you run him 67% of the time, they know he's coming ...

Shurmur looked like a genius in the first half, a rookie in the second ...

Why don't we blitz linebackers or DB's, ever?

Why are we running the ball at all down two TD's late in the 4th?

Why is McMichael still on this team? He sucked all the momentum out with a drop on 3rd down ...

Why was Billy Devaney looking pissed off after the game to point of being called "murderous" looking by Bernie?

I'm sick over this game, absolutely sick. Sterling Sharpe was right, Rams would have an opportunity to win this game. And we blew it, better yet, we choked, from the coaches down ...

Effort is there, but the execution is questionable at best. Very angry with our coaching staff this week. Unacceptable loss in my opinion. Had a chance to win over the fans, and they were doing ok, then it unraveled as usual. No excuses this week ...

4th down and 8..what?...there going for it!!?
                        by steviej
Have anyone noticed that alot more teams..(college and NFL) are going on it on 4th down more often? I was watching the Colts game on saturday and the Colts had 4th and 8...and they went for it and failed. They did that twice..so they were 1/2 on 4th down convertions. I don't think teams should be going for it on 4th and 8.:helmet:

That was some seriously rediculuos defense. We did well for most of the game and the ****** put themselves in a hole with all those penalties. For two plays we looked like trash and it couldnt have happened at a worse time. two plays lost us that game. They never should have scored.
