Adam Schefter recently tweeted that J Lau was his front runner for defensive rookie of the year at this point in the season followed by Ray Maualuga. So there is at least a positive there.

not bad for a Rookie who had supposedly reached his development ceiling in College!
Lau is playing the under the radar role, while Rey is making the headlines by making impact plays.

Adam will be one of the few who will actually take a look at James. Most of the media guys really tend to look only at the teams that are doing well for most of their awards, not individual players. Individually, Laurinaitus is playing as well as any rookie, and deserves a mention for his play so far.

We have the best punter and longsnapper in the league and neither ever get named to the Pro Bowl. Why? We have so few wins.

Re: James Laurinaitus defensive ROY?
If voting were today (all politics aside), SOA should be the defensive rookie of the year. Cushing over took him on total tackles (26 to 25), but SOA's solo lead isn't so close (19 to 14). Delmas, Maulaublahblah, Curry, Derek Cox, Bruce Johnson, and Victor Butler would garner mention as well. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Re: James Laurinaitus defensive ROY?
Considering that our run defense has been thoroughly better this year vs last year when anyone could run on us, that alone should make him rookie of the year. He's playing very disciplined ball, and he's making plays all over the field. I swear he had more than three tackles in this weekend's game as well.I believe!:ram:

Re: James Laurinaitus defensive ROY?
Laurinitaus has been awesome lately. I don't know his stats at the end of week three, but at the end of week two he racked up 22 tackles, and I think 16 of them solo. At this point he is definatly a candidate, and I would love to see him win that award to spark up or defense.
