  • Congrats on beating the NFC West doormat

Now the game we've all been waiting for...

Good luck this coming weekend, I'm sure lots of Seahawk "fans" that are really trolls will show up this week to keep the mods busy, but I want to keep the talk intelligent.

This is a huge game for both teams, a Seahawk win would give us basically a 3 game lead on the division (really you guys)...and a victory by the Rams would really change the outcome of how the division was looking to go just a week ago.

Any key injuries on your side? Only one for us really is Chad Brown, Shaun Alexander should be close to 100% after the week off - good news for Seahawk fans if the big game Alexander shows up.

This game proved to be a tune up game for the Seahawks. The Rams had to establish a running game somehow, either against Slippery Rock....the Sisters of the Blind....or the whiners.

Now, it gives this Ram team confidence that they at least can run the ball against an NFL team.....sort of.

Going into last night's game, the niners were allowing 2.9 ypc. Their offense may suck, and they may have questions in their secondary, but that was a solid run defense that we lit up to the tune of 4.8 ypc.

Looks to me like the best way to establish our run game was by attempting to.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The Niners may be a doormat, but its still important to play well. Otherwise, you can find yourself losing 34-10 to Arizona (New Orleans) or 38-17 to San Diego (Tennessee).

I disagree. The best way to establish the running game, IMO, is to have an offensive line and fullback that create holes and allow our runners to gain good yardage. Look at what Faulk did on the first drive. He was actually gaining yards because there were holes in front of him.

It seems very simplified to say the run worked because Martz actually attempted to run. He attempted the run in Atlanta and got nothing. When the Rams were pass-heavy to start the game against New Orleans, the first few runs they attempted were still sniffed out and dropped for little gain, and the runs in the second half weren't that effective either in general. There's more to it than just making the attempt, IMO.

Nick, my comment was an attempt at a little sarcastic levity, but for your sake......yes, any successful run game in the NFL requires more than attempts.

However, in the first half of the NO game we ran 7 times for 36 yards for 5.1 ypc. In the 2nd half, we ran 8 times for 42 yards for 5.3 ypc. And before you say anything, yes that includes Bulger's 19 yard run which should count since the line had to block for him as well, but since you will probably want a stat without his run --- 7 times for 23 yards for 3.3 ypc.

This line was supposed to be in shambles, disarray, trouble, omigosh the sky is falling, and several other quips & phrases that defined how horrible this line was supposed to be. Yet, in 3 of 4 games, the run games average 4.8 ypc or better. We are currently 5th in the NFL in ypc. And then there's our pass blocking. Only 6 teams have attempted to pass the ball more than us. But there are 13 who've allowed as many or more sacks.

Are they going to be mistaken for the Cowboys front line of the early-mid 90's? No. Are they lightyears better than some will give them credit for? Yes, but I guess some will go on believing that everything wrong can be pinned on the O-line.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Yet it wasn't a designed run play, and I think that's why you can't count it as part of our running gameplan. I just think it's misleading to count it. When Mike Vick makes guys miss in the backfield while he's looking downfield and then just takes off, that means jack in terms of what their running backs and O-line do on designed runs. Not really a point worth debating, though.

Looking forward to a good game . . . Hawks are looking tough and this may be the year the wheels start to come off for the rams. Best of luck with the game and the rest of the season

HEY, TX! What's with picking on Slippery Rock! my alma mater! Our football team does quite well, thank you very much.

I don't care if the whiners suck, just as long as we beat them twice, and we're halfway there. I don't care if we go 2-14 as long as those two wins are against the whiners.

This game is huge for both teams. This is already being termed a cupcake division by many in the "national media" so it's important for both teams to show up big. A loss by the Rams means we spend the rest of the season eyeballing the wild card. A los by the Seahawks tarnishes their respectability league-wide. It should be a tough game and here's looking for the Rams to play like they played most of last night, minus the three whiners drives.

Re: Congrats on beating the NFC West doormat

the seahawks are a very good team but they're hardly the juggernauts that their fans may make them out to be. yes, they beat three teams they should've beaten and did it convincingly. bucs, saints and whiners have been less than stellar early in the season combining for a record of 2 and 10. the bucs were the only team with any sort of chance due to their very good defense but their offense has major problems ( i think the bucs only have two offensive tds so far in their four games...yikes) ...

that's not to say that the rams have done any better... the wins against the cardinals and the niners were well deserved but hardly anything to shout about... the loss to the saints was numbing considering the rams were up by 3 with 23 secs. to go... rams ran into a buzz-saw against the tough falcons d and vicks...

the seahawks may have the advantage of having a week off and playing at home but in divisional games like these records don't really matter that much. as long as the defense hold up well against the run the rams have the offense to make the game competitive and fun...

It's going to be a close game. Most Seahawk fans I know are encouraged by the team's fast start, but nobody's calling scalpers for Super Bowl tickets just yet. We know there's a long way to go.

In the end, I think it'll come down to which QB gets rattled least by the blitz. Seahawks 24, Rams 21.

As much as I can't stand the Seahawks and their fans, they sure do make winning taste much sweeter. I haven't been this excited about a game since the playoffs last year.

I love it.. Ram fans dont like the Seahawk fans??

I mean most are just fired up over the start of the season.. They say the same things no matter who we are playing.. rams or whoever..

Honestly wouldnt you be excited? our defense looks very good.. THe offense has the same players as last year (and they ended up being very good.) why not get excited...
