  • Marvin Harrison?

We have a lot of young talent in our WR's and it would have helped a lot with an experianced veteran mentoring the crew. Why didn't we give the guy a chance. And also, can someone clear the Holt issue up for me? Did we cut him because of contract issues or becuase we wanted young talent?

It seemed to me like he would be an awesome fit.

    Re: Marvin Harrison?

Ok, for your first question about Harrison, no the Rams really shouldn't have kicked the guy's tires because he has shown himself to be way past his prime, injury prone, and he's be learning a whole new system for the first time in forever. He's not good enough to be in the league anymore.

Second, the Holt issue. He was cut for both of the reasons that you mentioned. One, we needed cap space, and he was an obvious target. Two, we wanted to workout our younger talent, the guys who would be a part of the team in the future when we turn the ship around. We needed to get the on the field so that they could show us what they had.

Neither guy fits what the current regime wants, and so it's good that we cut ties with Torry and didn't pursue Harrison. They're over the hill and looking for a winning team, not a rebuilding team. Now, if you want to bring in Harrison as a WR coach... I'm all for that!
    I believe!:ram:

Holt was due to be payed $10m this year..seeing as even with him,Pace,Pisa & Draft off the books we are still in "cap hell"...we had no choice whatsoever than to cut Holt..presuming he wasnt willing to take a pay cut down to vet minimum..

agree with Teke about Harrison..as a WR coach..sure that would be an appealing hire..but as a 36 year old player with what little he has left to his game...no thanks. it would be just like when Rice left the Niners all over again..

Oh man, well I think we need at least one veteran on the team to lead the young WR bunch. Maybe we should have kept ronald curry? He's not physically great, but he could have brought that veteran mind set.

If Avery can start to relax more when the ball is thrown to him and not think about where he is gonna get his YAC then i believe we will see the real DA once more..

If Burton can stay healthy he will evolve into a very fine Wideout..he has all the tools already apart from durability (basically Laurent Robinson mark II)

once Ruvall Martin has a couple of games under his belt,im sure he will be a useful wideout for us...

and Amendola has the skill set to contribute in the slot..and could turn out to be quite deadly in that role in time.

it would be handy to know exactly who our possesion reciever is right now..im thinking personally it will be Burton for this season...but i dont think veterans like Curry are worth having on-board purely for their presumed leadership due to how many years theyve spent in the league...the coaches can be there for mentoring..especially the wideout coach..(cant remember who that is off the top of my head)
like with many of our player positions..we are filled with young guys..we just need to be patient with them and let them grow into vets...it will all come together some time soon.

we may not be great yet..but we are ahead of a lot of teams in laying down the foundations for a succesful future.

Good Point Ramblin' Ram. We do have a bright future. We just need to hold on for a couple more seasons of possible losing records and disaster.

              Re: Marvin Harrison?

Marvin Harrison is out of the league because he wants way too much money, and doesn't want to be a role player. He thinks he can still be a teams number one receiver, and wants to be paid as such.

He's nuts. There's no way he's worth more than the vet minimum at this point.
