well done Scott..Rep on its way..

that must be a record..45 years since we drafted a QB in the 1st..

oddly enough Bill was the third consecutive 1st round QB ..Terry Baker had been taken 1st overall in 1963 and Roman Gabriel in 1962..(tho we did have additional 1st round picks in those years)

talk about goin from one extreme to another..

The worst part is that it made me look at all the other 1st rounders that we took in the last 9-10 years.

should have quick scrolled down..thats what i done.

weve spent 12 1st round picks on RB`s in that time..another shocking fact.

sadly Bill Munson died in 2000 found drowned in his own swimming pool in Lodi,California aged 58...he played in the NFL for 16 years mainly with us and a 7 year spell with the Lions.

1968 - Gary Beban - The Rams used their 1st pick, #30 overall, to select this QB.

Okay, actually it IS Munson. Beban was the Rams 1st pick and he was the #30 overall; but that pick was actually in the 2nd round.

Technically he said rep points for the correct answer... not just the first correct answer.

Wow has it really been that long? I still can't believe that we passed up on Jay Cutler for Adam Carriker. Man, we missed out on an awesome QB for what I would call, a bust first round linemen. Sorry if any one here is a die hard Carriker fan.

:ram: Good one Ramblin'. Good job ScottD. Yes, it's been that long, 1964, since the Rams drafted a QB in R1...

Munson was playing first QB under head coach Harland Svare but that changed as soon as Coach Allen took over in '66 -- he saw better talent in my man Gabriel (NFL MVP 1969). By '68 Bill Munson was in Detroit and played several years there.

I remember the Munson / Gabriel situation with the Rams; it was my first notion of a 'QB controversy' although as such these debates were not as high profile as they later became in the late 60s - early 70s.

                      Bill Munson (1941-2000) - - -

BTW, with Bulger / Boller / Null, most likely the Rams will not draft a QB in 2010 in R1. I hope Null develops well.

Actually, they passed Cutler for Hill (2006), not Carriker (2007).
