  • Its official, we are the worst team in the NFL

I dont see any way around it. I think we are the worst team in the nfl. I think we would have a legit shot to beat tampa, cleveland and kc. I watched detroit today, they are definitely better than us (stafford is a terrific young qb and calvin johnson is special). Oakland stinks, but they have a win. Cleveland has no wins, but they went to OT today. I didnt check the final stat line yet, but at one point in the fourth quarter we had more punts (7) than first downs (6).

Our offensive line is giving us no chance to compete offensively. Our defense isnt as bad as the stats look, but the countless penalties on both sides of the ball are truly one sign of a terrible team. There is truly no pulse on our offensive line, which makes it essentially impossible to throw the ball down the field, which makes it easier for teams to put 8 or 9 guys in the box to stop jackson. At least its clear today that Boller isnt the answer to anything. He was horrible. I dont mean to get on boller because he is a decent backup, but as i have been saying for two years about bulger, if you have no offensive line play, its impossible for a qb to be successful.

There are some on the board who have advanced the argument that the talent level isnt as bad as i keep saying it is. Does anyone still want to make that argument? I said at the start of the season that we had no depth at all and it sure looks like that was a correct statement. Sure, we are banged up. So are lots of teams. Our wide receiver situation is very very weak and we dont do enough to get the ball into averys hands.

Its going to be a very very long year. I think we are looking at 3-13 at best and most likely worse. I truly believe that if jackson gets hurt and cant play, we will not win a single game without him.

And I don't understand that we have put allot of money in that line I don't know what the rams can do to get better there. I do believe we have the worse set of WR'S in the NFL we need allot of skill guys to.

Offense is so bad it is disgusting its absolutely horrible. Complete opposite off the GSOT. If there is a complete polar opposite of the GSOT this offense is it. Absolutely atrocious no other way to put it.

Defensively I think we are ok middle of the pack. We have found ways to get some pressure and IMO even with the injuries mounting we are getting better defensively every week, where as we are getting worse offensively.

So the Question is Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen

the offense is as bad as i've ever seen in the nfl..part of that is the line, part was certainly the qb today, a big part of it is the play calling. it has really, really been bad all year, i've tried to be patient and figured maybe this rookie coordinator was just settling into the position, but we need a change there. the receivers aren't anything special either, but we haven't even given them the oppurtunity to disappoint us yet.

You've basically been saying as much since the start of the season.

Now that you've made it official, you must be jumping for joy while you are telling us you told us so.

We'll see what happens the rest of the year, but it would be hard to argue that the Rams are not the worst team in the NFL right now. It pains me to say that.

I will always stand behind this team 100%, but it is unbearable to watch at this point. The play is on both sides of the ball is subpar to say the least.

That was just pitifull to watch !!

                                My official announcement of semi-retirement
                                by NJ Ramsfan1
I am going into semi- retirement from watching Rams football. This is a difficult decision given my 35 year allegiance to this team since I was 4 years old, but one I feel I must make for my own sanity and health. There is simply no way I can stand to continue watching this kind of incompetance each Sunday. Before I do so, some thoughts about today. I will attempt to be as respectful and as measured in my comments as possible.

Today's effort resembled our opener vs. Seattle. We hung in for awhile, made some good defensive stops, then ended up shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties that negated 1st downs, turnovers and cluelessness. We've been shut out in 2 of our first 4 games. I've been to funerals that were more enjoyable than watching us try to move the football offensively. Just dreadful.

Boller showed today why he lost his starting job with Baltimore and why he'll never be anything more than a stop gap 2nd string guy at best.

The offensive line was atrocious again- 5 sacks allowed and numerous pressures. There's no excuse. It's not like we haven't invested money into this unit. This is either a complete lack of collective talent or a bunch of overpaid underachieving wastes- I really don't know which, at this point.

I'm very disappointed in the coaches right now. I believed and still have faith that Steve Spagnuolo is the guy for this job. But penalties, blown assignments and lack of execution is a reflection on the coaches- no iffs, ands or buts. And right now, it is reflecting very poorly on these guys, because we have a team that is spinning its wheels, shooting itself in the foot and executing poorly. The play calling is terrible (let's run draw plays to Jackson on 3rd and 8) but part of the reason is because we have absolutely no one other than Steven Jackson who is worth their weight offensively or a threat to do anything.

Josh Brown- a guy lauded a couple of years ago as one of the top two or three kickers in all of football and paid handsomely for the privilege- stinks. With the kind of salary he's drawing, he should be automatic on field goal attempts. He's been far from it recently. And for all of Donnie Jones impressive punts, can you angle kick or put the ball inside the 10 a couple of times when punting from mid-field instead of blasting it into the end zone for a touchback? How many times, Donnie?

One of the things that makes you feel a little better while rebuilding is to see steady improvement each week. It hasn't happened. Our one close game came vs. a Washington team that we're coming to find out isn't very good. Although there are flashes by a couple of guys (Otogwe and Laurinitis come to mind), we are no better now than we were in our opener vs. Seattle and aren't even close to being a competitive football team, much less winning games. The results are no better than last year. And there will come a time very quickly when hanging your...

                                Worst team in football--2009
                                by Ram Dragoon
Alot of mention is how the Rams are the worst team in football today. Or that the Rams are not the worst team in football that the distinction still belongs to Detroit...and back and forth the arguement goes.
                                :helmet:
My money is in the latter arguement then the former, but not for the obvious reasons one might think. Yes the win/loss column doesnt favor the Rams and after all thats what football is all about....STILL:

You have the Red Skins, a team with high profile players, top talent, no serious needs. Then there is the Cowboys, very simular to the Red Skins in having all the pieces in place for a team. On paper both these two teams ought to do well in the 2009 season. But both are struggling and not living up to their potentual.
The Titans, last seasons 13-3 team still stuck in the cellar this season. Again they have the depth the Rams don't have. Jags, have a defense the Rams don't yet they are stuck at the bottem.

So really who is the worst team in the NFL today? The Rams are progressing forward and striving to once again reclaim the NFC-West. Yes woeful in terms of depth, missing a few key parts of the puzzle yet. But what are the excuses for the other teams with a complete roaster of players?

If asked on a street corner who is the worst team in the NFL, I would say the Red Skins followed by the Raiders. The Rams are going somewhere where as these other two teams are stuck in Limbo

                                The Rams are terrible
                                by swatter555
I don't post very often, but I feel compelled to voice my frustration about what I see happening this year. Today, the Rams were BAD, BAD, BAD. At this point, they are as bad as any time last year. Maybe some players are putting forward a decent effort from start to finish, but the stupid penalties say it all about this team's focus, motivation, and attention to detail.

Frankly, our offense is very offensive. Sure Boller made some bonehead decisions, but he was under constant pressure and the playcalling was such that he had no opporntunity to establish a rhythm (if that would have even been possible). In addition, what the heck is Jackson doing hauling the rock in a lost cause? Jackson is the only player at our skill positions that is worth a darn, and we are wearing him down for a terrible team. We are wasting and even worse, abusing his tremendous talent. On a team with a decent o-line and a passing game, Jackson is a superstar.

On the other hand, the defense shows alot of potential. Too bad they are only the field the whole game. If you think about it, with only one or two high profile players, the defense does pretty damn well. Even with the injuries, they come to play.

The only thing we have to look forward to at this point is the draft, four games into the season. Of course, the only thing the Rams excel at is drafting mediocre players in the first round.

Thats how I see it; watching the game today just plain hurt.

Its like even though we have 2 wins and the bengals, chiefs, lions only have 1 or fewer wins, its like we always have to be the ones gettin beat so badly. At least the other teams are in games or scoring offensive TD, were not. WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH THIS TEAM?

YEt be better than our Rams.

I mean I just dont get what it takes to win in this league man. I am just tired of hearing the SAME OLD RAMS talk from all these so called analysts and experts and whoever else. Whenever we are playing a great or good team, we never get the pick , and probably rightfully so. But whenever we play a bad team, no matter what their record is now, was then, or what they predict it to be this year, its like they always pick us to lose. I dont see how a team could lose 12 games a year yet be "better than us"

I dont see how a team could be 2-14 yet be " better than us"

I MEAN COME ON GUYS!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!!! BULLISH!!!! You cannot sit here and tell me that EVERY team in the league is "LEAPS AND BOUNDS" ahead of us and that " they only need a couple of pieces" yet " we have so many gaping holes'

Let me tell you what I have been doing the past 3 painful years. I have been watching closely ( and understanding) what it takes to win in this league. I have watch us play every team in the NFL over that period, I think. And at some point you have to wonder " OK, when is this losing going to stop"? We have played everyone from the Colts and Saints straight down to the Lions and Chiefs. SO you sit and wonder after every loss if you are ever going to win because you see all the mistakes you make and all of the lack of impact players. Now all that is pretty much addressed, aside from a couple more positions, we have some good players on this team and we have STILL NOT won a game? BULLISH!!!

NOW think about THAT my friends!! Think about why some other teams "suck" yet they can find a way to win some games. Why cant we?

Biggest question I have ever tried to find the answer to, and probably also the most annoying. Dont tell me its because we have too many holes.
