  • special team- trev faulk returns

Big night for both faulks. I thought trev faulk looked great on special teams, lots of enthusiasm and at least two tackles. He was apparantly missed during his hamstring illness. Best kickoff coverage from the rams since tom dempsey was kicking off for us.

I'd give him credit for the 1st 4 tackles on STs. He should be next week's STs' Captain.

        The loss of Faulk (trev)
        by general counsel
I view this injury related loss as worse than meets the eye. Faulk was a very solid backup and an excellent special teams player at small cap dollars. He was not a star, but an outstanding role player and very good for depth. At this point, i see nothing that even remotely resembles a backup at the middle linebacker position that has ever set foot on an nfl field, and that doesnt even account for the fact that spoon is a converted outside linebacker. I hope the rookie is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but his is alas a rookie.

To me, this is the kind of injury that a lot of people underestimate. The NFL is the ultimate war of attrition, and losing key role players before the season starts is never good news. It is certainly true that we knew for some time that faulk had the surgery and back surgery is almost always a significant operation. We should have seen this coming, but to me, i was surprised he was waived rather than put on IR. Lets see what balzer et al say about the reason we went that route.

What do you guys think of TREV FAULK's play?

He's getting as many tackles (on the stat sheet) as Claiborne and Coakley combined did, but I didn't see him play this week.

Balzer: Trev Faulk Now on Reserve
        by RamWraith

Perhaps Trev Faulk has a chance to stay with the Rams after all.
Instead of clearing waivers Thursday, as most players do when they are waived, Faulk instead was placed on the Rams' reserve/physically
unable to perform list (PUP) today.

That means he can continue rehabilitating, and possibly return to practice with the team after the sixth week of the regular season. He is currently ineligible to sign with another team, unless the Rams release him from the PUP list.

        More on the faulk decision
        by general counsel
I cant get over faulk being on the bench with the game on the line in favor of arlen harris. I demand an explanation for vitt and i want to know how it makes any sense at all. It appears to be the single dumbest coaching decision i have ever seen in the history of watching football. We are not talking about faulk vs. jackson here, we are talking about faulk vs. arlen harris, a back that has not been on the field for anything other than special teams in weeks.

Faulk had his helmet on indicating to me he was clearly ready to go. He was having a very productive game. we were trying to win which is why vitt pulled fitz for martin, what in the world would lead to this kind of decision.

This is a noteworthy story and i will tell you why. Is faulk coming back next year? That depends on a couple of things, first and foremost, does he want to. I expect faulk to make a decision after we get a new coach and faulk talks to the coach to see what his role will be. Why should he come back to get one touch a game or, in the event jackson is out, to get benched with the game on the line.

Harris actually made a nice blitz pickup but that is 100% beside the point.

Does anyone believe for even one second that if martz was coaching faulk would have been out of the game in that situation.

The Faulk ceremony was a disaster
        by BigGameMN
You get to see how cheap this organization really is during stuff like this and they didn't disappoint. The whole thing was bad, they wouldn't shut the stupid music off and it kept drowning out Faulk. And that banner.....Besides being initially hung sideways that banner is embarrassing to a player like Faulk, it looks homemade and like it should be on some kids wall in his room.
