Mark Sanchez completes 50% of his passes for 172 yards and a TD in a losing effort and James Laurantis has 11 tackles and a pick and Sanchez is up for rookie of the week. HUH?!?! I think he is just an automatic nominee every weak it is redonculous spread the love out to rookies who are actually doing something.

Re: Huh?!?!
It's Hispanic Heritage month. Sanchez could have gone to the 50-yard line, rolled over on his back, and peed himself and he'd be up for Rookie of the Week. Laurinaitis will get his when it's "Pro Wrestler Family Heritage" month.👍 4 -
Re: Huh?!?!
Yeah, he's a quarterback in a huge media market. I think it really comes down to spelling Laurinaitis' last name so many times. They just don't want to do it.Comment

Re: Huh?!?!
Yeah, there are a lot of things working against Laurinaitis here. First of all, quarterbacks automatically get a brighter spotlight on them for better or worse. Then there's the fact that players in bigger markets tend to get more exposure. And finally, you've got the problem that the Rams aren't winning, so not only is the perception of the team's players more negative in general, but nobody's really tuning in to see the strong individual performances.Comment

Re: Huh?!?!
Laurinaitis would have to take over at QB and lead the Rams to their first victory before they look his way, sadly enough. I'm just hoping that when the season is over with, he's undeniable as the defensive rookie of the year.I believe!:ram:Comment

Re: Huh?!?!
At this rate they will probably give it some scrub like Aaron Curry or Brian Cushing. Who cares about SLBs. MLBs run the defensive show and if Lauranatis looses to Aaron " More fines than Cogs" Curry or Brian "I swear didn't use roids" Cushing I will be pissed.Comment

Re: Huh?!?!
But of course, the only media attention the Rams are getting are about Rush. :|Comment

JLAU deserves some type of recognition. Lets hope he stays healthy and continues his excellent play.Comment

Re: Huh?!?!
Sanchez is a good looking kid and he is in the spotlight in that position. These polls are not always based on real talent or performance. He has had some good games, but he certainly should not be up for rookie of the WEEK with that performance.
I am sure there are many players on losing teams that are getting over looked.sigpicComment

Re: Huh?!?!
Right now, there is no question that Sanchez's hype is excessive given his numbers. That's not to say he won't prove to be a good NFL QB in the long run, but there is no question that the Jets' 3-0 start lead to him being annointed prematurely.
Laurinaitis, on the other hand, is not receiving quite the attention he probably deserves because the Rams are not winning. Look at, for example, the Pro Football Weekly "rookie meter." They have Maualuga above JL. Why? Because Maualuga's team is winning.Comment
