The fact is he would have been a great 3rd round pick! He is good in the middle but thats about it. "No Passrush". I wish I was wrong, but im right.

he is not a bust! Let me remind you, our DT's are not an issue to any offense. That translates into double teams on our only two good linemen, Long and Little. Plus, DL usually take about three years to develop into statistical monsters. As for now, he is an ok pass and he's pretty good in the run game. Give him time before you label him a bust.

actually, Long made some nice plays. He isn't a bust. Is he playing like a 2nd overall pick should? No. Put he isn't bad by any means.

Therein lies the problem. He's not playing like a second overall pick. He's expected to pay major dividends immediately. He's been solid, but not to the level of the second player take in the draft, hence, he is a bust - SO FAR.

He looked great to me today. He made key tackles, slowed down ball carriers, strung out plays and put pressure on the quarterback. It's not all about sacks and he's by no means a bust. The sacks will come.

he was never really expected to be an elite pass rusher, he's better against the run and will become a better pass rusher with experience.

Many people in Houston were saying the same things about Mario Williams up until the mid-point of his second season. It wasn't until late until his second season when things clicked for him and he started to learn how to better deal with double teams.

The Texans are also a good example of a previously mentioned point. No one would argue against the fact that Mario Williams is an elite pass rusher. This season he has been almost non-existent because guys like Amobi Okoye, Shaun Cody, Frank Okam, and Antonio Smitih can't get any push up front. You can't do it all on your own. The whole D-Line has to be working well to allow one guy to shine.

He has not been playing like a second overall pick so far. Has he made some good plays? Yes he has. Those things don't come up on the stat sheet. He just hasn't had any sacks. But, today, even though Long made a few good plays, he was overall dominated at the line of scrimmage by guess who?

thats not on him, thats on the Rams,he didn't pick himself second they did. they could have selected someone else with that pick if they thought he was not worthy of a 2nd pick. I think he is just fine,if we could score some points on offense and keep these guys off the field all of there play would be better.

I have to agree with Beer. Long is a bust. He was highly overrated coming out of the University of Virginia. Now he has join the list of the Rams doing a bad job in evaluting college talent. Those that do not believe this is simply in denial.

Long to me isn't a BUST, he is NOT going to be this Superstar that people want, he is a Grant wistrom type, great effort quality player, not elite..

I have to agree with Beer. Long is a bust. He was highly overrated coming out of the University of Virginia. Now he has join the list of the Rams doing a bad job in evaluting college talent. Those that do not believe this is simply in denial.

And anyone who thinks that they can evaluate talent better than Devaney and his team should be sending Chip their resumes. I've not seen any issues with the drafting that Devaney has done, though the Avery pick is still somewhat questionable. Long currently has 22 games under his belt, and so far has proven himself to be a rather solid defender, he just hasn't put up the "numbers" that show he deserved to be a 2nd pick overall. Long is always around the football and is just a step slow at the moment or else he'd be piling up the sacks. He'll get faster, and he'll probably stop being a "bust" right around the time that the DT's next to him start showing themselves to be a threat to offenses. Long is not a bust, and if you think you can call him that yet, you're fooling yourself.
