  • Hello...

    ...Indianapolis Colts fan here.

Nice board you have here. I'm not here to talk smack I just like to see some of the opinions and ideas of other teams fans.

I know the Rams are in a down period and I know what that it like (Been a Colts fan since I was 10 years old back in '93). The Colts had a few down, almost hopeless seasons until hope was restored in '98 (though '95 wasn't too bad). But anyway...

I'm here to look at the positives.

I'm pretty sure I don't have to tell you, but Steven Jackson is a monster. He is one of my favorite players outside of the Colts. If I could take any RB and put him on the Colts it would no doubt be Steven Jackson due to his all around abilities let alone his power running skills. I've had several arguments with people wanting Adrian Peterson on the Colts, but Jackson would fit much better.

Spags was a very good DC in New York and I'm sure (in time) he can get the D in St. Louis to play very well. Just imagine if he could get a defensive line rotation on the Rams like he had in NY. That alone could improve every aspect of your D. I wish Carricker could get healthy for you guys and Long could play up to his potential, that would certainly speed up the process.

It seems like you have some keepers in OJ Atogwe, Ron Bartell, and so far James Laurinaitis.

Patience of course is the key (I'm also an Indiana Pacer fan so I know what it is like to have to have patience...not that I like to). In time that D should be good. I'm not quite sure about the offense, besides Jackson of course. But if that D becomes as good as I think it can the Rams could win with some ball control offense in the future. I know it's probably hard to go from "The Greatest Show on Turf" to grind-it-out ball, I know it's a cliche, but I don't think you'll care to much when you guys start winning again.

I don't like Peyton, but I hate Tom Brady more, "My Ex is a huge brady fan and she is a heart breaking skank" anyway, lol I hope it's a good game. and enjoy your stay

I totally understand if you're not too fond of Peyton. With all those commercials and airtime he's bound to not have every one like him.

I think we can both agree that we don't like heart-breaking skanks.

      Re: Hello...

Welcome and thanks for the kind words.

This game is going to be our toughest yet. We have improved every week and came close this week vs. Jacksonville, but I have no idea how our defense is going to stop your offense. And we need a miracle to happen with our receivers between now and next week if we want to have any semblance of a balanced offense.

Being from Syracuse and a lifelong SU fan, I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the Colts (Freeney, Harrison, you guys had James Mungro for a while). Maybe if the Rams would have drafted some SU players we wouldn't be in this mess! Haha

If nothing else, here's hoping for an injury free game.

Getting those players from Syracuse should give all Colts fans a softspot for the Orange.

Mungro was one of those players that gave all that he had every play he was involved in. He became one of those non-star fan favorites in Indy. It was sad when he tore his knee up. That kid was always smiling too.

          Welcome to our forums gumbercules.

This coming Sunday, I just hope that the Rams can stay competitive.

What are the Colt's weak spots? Don't you guys have a pretty young secondary?

I was wondering what "gumbercules" meant.

Anywhoo. Other than the Rams, I don't like any other team in the NFL. I simply judge them by which I hate the least. The Colts are on that list. So, I don't mind them doing well. Except of course, when they play us.

Let's hope for an injury free day and that no one on the Colts does something stupid to make me remove them from my least-hated-team-list.
The Rams... Where dreams go to die.

I was never a huge Peyton Manning fan until I drafted him on 2 fantasy teams this year. My opinion has officially been swayed.

Well, it's a darn good thing you're not here to talk smack.

...cuz' we'd have nothnig to say. Can't smack talk when your team has lost 16 in a row, now can we?

Anyway, I'm just hoping the game doesn't look like the Pats/Titans game last week. 0-59, or whatever it was.

Let's hope the Rams put up some sort of a fight this Sunday. But I fear Peyton is gonna tear the Rams a new one.

The weaker spots on the Colts depend mainly on injuries.

The LT spot is not too strong if Charlie Johnson can't play. The Colt's will have to put an TE or back on that side to help out if Ugoh has to start again. He has the physical talent to be a good LT but I'm not quite sure about the mental part.

The Colts just released one of their starting DTs (Ed Johnson) so that is not one of their stronger units (though they seem better than last season with or without ED).

The LBs haven't made too many plays so far this season. They've been solid but I think some of us expected more form Clint Session.

The Secondary is a surprise. The depth is great due to two rookies (Jerraud Powers and Jacob Lacey). The secondary is young but it is playing very well, even without Hayden and Sanders for the most part.

Yep, I should give you a rep point for noticing that. I have that name on a few boards and most don't know where it comes from.

                      welcome to the Clan Gumbercules,

here`s to a no injuries good contest...oh and Manning missing the team plane!

i noticed how Ron Rivera came up with a masterplan of combating the Colts no-huddle offense last year in the play-offs for the Chargers, where the D would wait until the play clock was down below 10 seconds before showing their hand.
just wondered if other teams have been doing that against you guys this year?
have seen some of the Colts games but not an entire game (just flicking through the channels between other games) but have not noticed it done since.

                        Re: Hello...

Another colts fan here, looking for some good talk before the game. Charlie Johnson is playing im pretty sure, powers and lacey have been huge even when covering the likes of boldin, fitz and housh in seattle. And we might even have bob back for you guys. Jackson is a beast but we just held the leagues leading rusher to under 80 yards so who knows how he will do. And no i dont see us hanging 59+ on you guys mainly because your guys wont quit, and secondly because we wont be taking timeouts with 30 seconds left in the half if we are up by 38.... or bringing peyton in in the second half if there is no need to.

So heres to some good talk before the game and ZERO injuries. Cheers guys

What part of IN are you from? I'm here in the southern side.

Anyways... I for one am really happy we're playing the Colts this week. Every Colts game gets showed locally, so I don't have to get to the bar to watch us get pummeled.

I live up by Lake Michigan. It's about 50/50 Colts to Bears fans up here. It was probably more like 70/30 in favor of the Bears before Peyton showed up. And there is a good number who try to root for both teams.

I grew up in Indianapolis so I really don't care about the Bears at all.

but anyway...heres to no injuries and good luck to you guys in the future...as in after this coming up Sunday...for the luck not the injuries (you can't be too careful with those football gods).
