    Rams release WR Tim Carter; add cornerback

    Wide receiver Tim Carter, who had one catch and several drops in two games with St. Louis, was released by the team on Tuesday.

    The Rams have filled his roster spot by signing cornerback Danny Gorrer off the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad.

    Gorrer, from Texas A&M, was signed last spring by the Saints as an undrafted free agent.

      Not really a surprise about Carter. Hopefully Gorrer can contribute a little.

        Is Gorrer going to be playing Carter's receiving spot? Because he'd probably be better.

          No question that the new corner will at least have better hands that Tim "Scissorhands" Carter.

            well Carter offered nothing and Gorrer will have 11 days with the team before they play again..and it will be against the team he`s been training with..might be able to give us a couple of heads up about what they doing in New Orleans...he`s only 23 and adds depth..who knows how it could go for Gorrer..but he gotta be able to offer more than Carter..who was so bad he was actually starting to make Drew Bennett look not so bad.

              Looks like Gorrer chimes in at 6'0'' 178lbs and runs a 4.4 for any interested parties.

                I would take Bennett over Carter any day of the week.

                  Get rid of Carter, pick up some intelligence on the Saints and make them scramble a little, plus add depth at CB. Sounds like a pretty good deal.

                        Good. Gotta say, I'm not very impressed with Devaney's eye for WR talent so far. Hopefully that improves over the next few years.

                            Can't be any worse than Carter that's for sure. And I say that about a practice squad player I've never even heard of. That's how good Carter was, more drops than catches.

                                Less than two weeks ago, the Rams declined to make a tender offer to restricted free agent Jerome Carter, thereby freeing him to sign with any team — no strings attached.

                                But in a move to bolster the Rams’ depth at safety, Carter has re-signed with the team. Contract details weren’t immediately available. Carter was a fourth-round pick by the Rams in 2005. He has appeared in 33 games, including three starts with the Rams, over three seasons.

                                Carter’s 2007 season ended Oct. 7, when he suffered a fractured right foot against Arizona.

                                The Rams moved injured safety Jerome Carter to injured reserve on Wednesday. Carter, who is nursing a foot injury, became the tenth player the Rams have placed on injured reserve this season, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Rams signed free agent Dwaine Carpenter to take Carter's spot on the roster for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.


                                Carpenter is a late addition to the team, so it's hard to imagine he'll have much of a role on Sunday.

                                I have been watching the tape I have of the game and I was very impressed with how S Jerome Carter played. 5 Tackles and 1 sack is a great stat line for a SS.

                                It would be huge if Carter could step up and move Chavous, who physically has lost a step, to the bench and bring nice size 5'11" 220lbs. and playmaking ability to the line up. I like Carter and in that game so far he has out played O.J.
