  • Saints Vs Rams battles of the early 2000's

I remember in the late 90's the Rams and Saints were perpetually bottom feeders in the NFC West and then you guys had the "Greatest Show On Turf" assault in 99' and whipped everybody up. But I liked those Rams vs Saints battles of 2000 and 2001 before the realignment. I remember when we played you guys when Aaron Brooks made his first start in the regular season and we eeked out a 31-24 win. Then I remember being home on leave from the military when we played you guys again the last week of the season (a game I went to) and you guys beat us to get in the playoffs.

Marshall ran rough shod over our defense that week and for like 200 plus yards and the Rams beat us 26-21. The following week we played you in the playoffs were kicking the snot out of yall and then you guys came all the way back and nearly robbed us of our moment but we wound up winning because Hakim fumbled the punt return. Those Saints vs Rams battle was fun those years win or lose and it was devoloping into a nice little rivalry before the realignment.

I remember the next time we played you guys in the 01-02 season you were beating us 24-6 at half time and we came all the way back and won. You guys were like 6-0 coming into that game and woun up making the SB that year before losing to the Pats. The next time you guys beat us in the Superdome on Monday night and our fans were throwing beer bottles at the refs. The realignment kind of killed that budding rivalry. The Saints and Rams always had a decent rivalry in the old NFC west but were never main rivals and were never really good at the same time except for those years.

I remember that muffed punt. It makes me cringe just thinking about it...

Hell yeah man, we've always had some great games against the Saints. Always fun to watch, regardless of how great or bad either team was. Let's hope for an injury-free game this Sunday!

You guys crushed our hearts in 07'. I think you guys were like 0-8 and then you came to the Dome and turned us any way but loose. I hope that butt kicking is freash in the Saints minds and they don't look past the Rams one bit because any given sunday anything can happen.

NFL network is airing one of their "classic" games, the Rams vs the Saints. Man I miss those days. Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but wasn't this the same year we Lost to Tampa on Monday Night, in that wild game? Sigh, oh well....

After travelling to Minnesota in Week 11 to take on the Vikings, the Rams will return to the Coliseum for an NFC matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Though the game was originally scheduled to air on FOX on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 1:05 PT, it will now be cross-flexed to CBS.

The contest will be available live in approximately 80 percent of the country as the key CBS doubleheader of the day, with a new kickoff time of 4:25 ET/1:25 PT. Please note the difference in the scheduled station and start time when making plans to either attend the game or watch it live on television.

What would the score be? Saints vs Stl?
            by BEER
If, and a big if we won the Seattle game and played the Saints would have we fared as well as the Hawks? How would have our coaches played this game?

I see it 16 to 36 Saints, and bad coaching. Does that paint a picture. Whats your score? Truth hurts, dont it.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
            by FirebirdRamsam
The good.......there was very little in the saints game.
            The bad.........there was alot!!!
            The Ugly........ditto!!!

I was kind of afraid that the saints were going to pull off a victory. If anyone read my last post which read: Will the saints go marching on. It talks about a possibility of them having our number. For some reason the team plays with added intense due to their coach and team mates being fired up since we have been ex-superbowl winners who have won with bull **** flee flickers and screens and fancy plays. The saints coach seems to think that we are a bunch of crap players with crappy non-football plays.

Truth is, the Rams beat the Rams fair and square!!! We lost the game due to silly penaltys, fumbles, interceptions, costly errors, un-special teams, blown plays and a missed field goal. If we played error free football or at least hanged on to the ball without giving it away with our fumbles and interceptions, we would have won yet as murphy's law plays out so many sundays, it was a game of 'what can go wrong will go wrong' and to think that the Rams are exempt from murphys law is wrong! It was bound to happen and I say good, why?

Well, lets just say that the next time we play the saints on their turf, it will be a different game. We should learn from our mistakes and hopefully on the next meeting, we will be playing with a healthy Faulk, and fumbleless game, a zero interception, a game plan that will have many flee flickers, trick plays so that it will inferiate the saints coach and perhaps a few on side kicks to boot ;-). I think that the Rams have learned a valuable experience of this loss and that if they can bounce back and play with added aggression due to this loss, perhaps this will propel them into the nfc playoffs.

This game against the saints truely was a horror film for the players as well as the fans and we didn't even get to see georgia for her halloween yearly appearance :mask: , darn!!! I believe that we see the saints mid december again. I will hope that we will bring with us a more intense game plan and an error free game in the georgia dome so that it can erase this bad taste that this last game left. And I hope that Martz will remember what the saint's coach said about the Rams and their so called plays so that he can fire up the team to seek revenge. I honestly don't think that the saints coach should be talking smack until he takes his team to the big dance and wins the big one! Rememeber, we walked the walk and can talk the talk since we are a past victorious superbowl team.

We now have a 'bye' week to rest, gather our thoughts and hopefully allow Faulk to return with 100% healed on his knee.
I predict a victory againt Carolina after the return from the bye week yet I will go out on a limb and predict.......no.....wait........
