  • Rams sign WR Jordan Kent

Kent is a 3rd year veteran. Standing 6-4, 219 lbs, Kent is a former record breaking track athlete in college.

Kent was most recently with Seattle and should be familiar with some WCO verbage.

The name doesn't ring a bell. I hope he's another one like Gibson who can come in and contribute right away...and hope he can outrun Wilson this weekend.

He's an incredible athlete, good hands, nice build and runs good routes. Only downfall is is toughness, he sometimes get's bumped off routes and doesn't regain easily.

Wow 20-25 more pounds this guy could play TE.

Yep, it should be interesting seeing what he can do. The first time he ever stepped onto a football field was 2005 at Oregon, although he made enough of an impression to get drafted two years later by Seattle and make the roster. He also played basketball and ran track at Oregon, so he's obviously athletic and as a 4 time All-American sprinter, he's got speed to go with that size. He's also the son of a college coach, which usually translates to a good work ethic.

Kent ran a 4.43 40 yard dash at his campus workout. That is Steven Jackson speed, maybe slightly faster, but it is pretty close. He has good size and speed which is something we need.

Re: Rams sign WR Jordan Kent

Kent is an amazing athlete, he's big and very fast. His drawback is that he's played very little football so is very raw and has trouble erm... running routes and catching the ball.

That said, he was looking like he was turning into a very good gunner on special teams. He didn't fit with our plans, but if you can carry a good special teamer with amazing athleticism he may yet turn into something. Actually, it was said before the season that his route running was vastly improved but I didn't see it in pre-season.

                      Thanks for the insight bluegreen.

He is heavy for a receiver. He could help out on special teams.

Sounds like a decent pick up.

Oh, is that all ?!?!? Shoot we'll fix that.

Thanks for the insight, bg. Good to hear from you.

Thanks bluegreen for the insight. Hopefully he can do something for us and help out, maybe get a diamond in the rough.

The only thing I dislike about us getting all these new Wide Recievers, is what happens next year if they all play well?

                            Donnie Avery
                            Keenan Burton
                            Laurant Robinson
                            Danny Amendola
                            Brandon Gibson
                            Brooks Foster
                            Jordan Kent
                            Ruvell Martin

It's going to be quite an interesting offseason. Let's not get ahead of ourselves though, this may or may not work out, I'll hold my judgement until then.

Really? He's the cloned "son" of Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) and Superman (Clark Kent). Pretty good gene pool.

The Rams had some contact with potential players from the CFL last offseason, but all decided to sign with other NFL teams, but this year they were able to pick up a WR/KR in Andrew Hawkins. Source: SportsnetJim on Twitter. Hawkins played for the Montreal Alouettes last season.
He looks like a Danny Amendola-type receiver with a little bit more top end speed. Would be great if the Rams could develop an actual game-breaking return man.

From reading some of the comments that were left on the website I was on it didn't look like he was THAT good but we will see.

If Price is Right, Rams Will SIgn WR Mario Manningham
                                by codeman123
"According to the New York Post, the Rams are currently working out the parameters of a contract for free agent WR Mario Manningham.
Manningham has received an unexpectedly soft market, but remains a prime candidate to get overpaid in free agency. The Rams currently have Brandon Gibson slotted as their top receiver and likely won't let Manningham out of town without an agreement."

Jim Thomas has also said something to that effect. If the Rams can get him for 3 years 15 million (or less) it would be a great deal. His soft market only helps the cause. Get it done Rams.

                                WR: outside the box thought
                                by Richbert88
Whose satisfied with the current group of WRs?

I am hearing our guys are having problems getting seperation and holding onto the ball.

Here is a <bizarre> thought for the future, possible a little sooner.

DX and Onobun as WRs. At 6-5, with excellent hands, seperation wouldn't be a problem. What seperation you can't get in the x,y plane you can easily attain in the z plane <vertical>.

I understand the limitations on both. Inexperience. And for DX, his knees.

But lets ponder this together. Who has two really big CBs to cover these guys? Are they going to be pressed and bumped? I would find it hard to imagine a CB being more physical in press than Onobun. The guy is too big and strong. His biggest obstacle, as I have an understanding, is his blocking. Put him wide and let him do the WR blocking on running plays. Fendi ran a 4.45 and a 4.5 during his pro day. He is fast enough. DX also looks to have some skills and unussual size.

Put Amendola & Gillyard in the slot, Hoomanawanui, Fells & Baj in at TE. SJ would see some big bodies down field while running.

                                Why not?
