Rams assure sellout, local TV for Sunday’s game

Local St. Louis Rams fans — and those St. Louisans who still embrace Kurt Warner and/or the former St. Louis Cardinals — will be able to watch Sunday’s game on television after all.

A TV blackout was averted when the Rams bought up the remaining tickets at today’s 3:05 p.m. extended deadline and donated them to local charities and youth groups, assuring that the NFL sellout requirements were satisfied. The number of remaining tickets was believed to be about 4,500.

Each of the Rams’ five games this year has met those requirements and has been aired here.

Nice to hear that the Rams organization is willing to eat the ticket prices to stop a blackout.

Great move by the Rams to try to build some good-will with the local fans at a time when they need it most...Hopefully decisions like this and the recent improvement of our young Rams on the field will continue....

For the first time this season — and for just the seventh time since the team moved here in 1995 — a St. Louis Rams home game will be blacked on local television. Several thousand tickets remained for Sunday’s noon contest against the Seahawks as of late Friday afternoon.

Normally, a game must be sold out 72 hours before kickoff, but that deadline often is softened during holiday weeks.

TV Blackout All But Certainty For Rams-Seahawks On Sunday

TV blackout all but a certainty for Rams-Seahawks on Sunday

After two weeks of near-misses on television blackouts, it appears there is no escaping one this week. With more than 8,000 tickets remaining for Sunday’s game against Seattle at the Edward Jones Dome, it looks like the Thanksgiving weekend won’t include a St. Louis Rams game on local TV.

“I’m not optimistic at all,” said Kevin Demoff, Rams executive vice president of football operations.

With so many tickets unsold, Demoff said he doubted that the Rams would ask for a 24-hour blackout extension later in the week.

Sellout Requirements Met; Rams-Saints On Local TV

It took a 24-hour extension of the sellout deadline. And a promotion in which for every ticket sold this week, the Rams would donate one ticket to a member of the military.

But Sunday’s home game against the New Orleans Saints has met NFL sellout requirements and will be televised locally. Kickoff is noon at the Edward Jones Dome.

With about 3,000 tickets remaining, it appears unlikely that Sunday's home game vs. Atlanta will be televised here.

The NFL requires games to be sold out 72 hours before kickoff to avoid local blackout.

The deadline is noon today, and tickets "aren't moving real well," said Michael Naughton, the Rams' vice president of finance and ticketing. "It doesn't look like we're going to make it."...

No Rams on TV: Team's sellout streak ends

The home sellout streak is over for the Rams. For the first time since the franchise moved to St. Louis in 1995, a home game will not be televised locally.

The Rams did not reach NFL sellout requirements by noon Thursday, so Sunday’s final home game of the season against Washington will be blacked out to local fans, according to team officials. About 3,000 tickets remain for the contest, and neither the Rams nor Fox (Channel 2), which has the rights to televise the game, were willing to buy up the tickets.

Until Sunday, all 95 regular-season home games and all five home playoff games by the Rams had been televised locally.
