  • Shurmer has had long enough

Pat Shurmer is a horrible offensive coach. He's had enough time to get this team going. His playcalling is sporadic, He runs on 2 and long all too often, and doesnt go deep enough. If this team is going to get better, getting better players is not all they need to do, the defense plays fine but are on the field too long.

Say what you want but Shurmer needs to go.

Yes! Lets run that fool out of town.

    Better start making the sigs.

I don't care if he is a rookie coordinator. He's not making good decisions at all. Not good enough to keep him past next week.

Again a chance to win the game, and game clock management and play calling was horrible.

I want to argue you point lol. But I cant. All I can say is Spags is the head
coach and it should be put on his shoulders. He needs to make the decision on
getting someone else or keeping to his game plan.

This was the easiest game for us to win this whole season. Terrible playcalling.

Really only one pass attempt over 20 yards?!?! I really dont like bashing the coaches, but this was a verry burnable secondary. We played way to conservative. We couldn't have been more predictable.

I will give him something its not his fault Barron is horrible. He sucks!!!! Boller isn't good either.

You can't be putting today's performance on the players dude.....

I know those guys suck, but the play calling was worse. Today was a terrible game in that aspect and Shurmur needs to go NOW.

I have got to admit though.

Barron got burned on several important times today. Got ANOTHER holding call today, and should have had 1 more, but the refs didn't call it.

Also, Goldberg isn't that good. He gets easily burned by speed rushers, like Ogunleye.

on 3rd and long you can place bets that it's going to be a draw up the middle...every time...

hand off to sjax, hand off again, screen pass, hand off, screen pass. come on..

and why are we handing the ball off to sjax around 30 times a game the last 2 weeks when he's been having back trouble..? are we trying to finish ourselves off? as stupid as trading sjax away would be, it would be even worse to run him so hard that his career is over before the rest of the team catches up!

The playcalling today was bad, but consider what Shurmer had to work with at QB. The defense played great, Jackson played great, the OL was effective and the recievers were getting open. Boller was absolutely horrible. His passes downfield were either forced into coverage or wildly off target.

No not at all, I'm just saying they didn't help. Boller was eratic, the WRs weren't as good as they have been. Both tackles strugled today.

We didn't play to win bottom line. That draw 3rd and 9 we were clearly playing for a FG that was just an atrocious call. Your not going to win that way and you aren't going to put anyone in the seats

Re: Shurmer has had long enough

bottomline in my humble opinion, and hello everyone im new to the forums, but this is what needs to happen. First, we need a reevaluation of the coaching staff yet again. I am one of the people who still likes Spags and I believe strongly that he is not the problem and should stay. Pat Shurmur on the other hand is one of the most atrocious play-callers ive seen for the rams in quite some time. He is extremely predictable (First Down basically means "Steven Jackson Dive Play" now) and lacks creativity. I mean seriously you have ONE win on the season. Through the damn ball down the field. At least make it look like you WANT a Touchdown. Are we trying to get Josh Brown and Donnie Jones to the pro bowl?

Second, we need to address the roster problems in a big way this offseason. We simply cannot have another season like this. Bulger and Boller need to sign their walking papers and take their hides elsewhere because its just not happning in STL anymore. We should go after a quarterback in the draft in about 3rd maybe second round and pick up a Case Keenum or something of the sort. First round we need to grab Suh from Nebraska and switch to a primarily 4-3 defense. Give Carriker one more shot and if he gets injured long term again he needs to go as well. Go out in free agency and pick up some talent at OLB to complement Laurinaitis. I think the other guys are doing a decent job but are expendable. I like Craig Dahl in the secondary and believe hes a keeper as well as, of course, Mr OJ Atogwe. James Butler is also expendable to me. As for receiver we need one big possesion guy with first round talent to make this receiving corp legit. Cornerback spot should also be reevaluated in the offseason as we get guys back from injury I like our o-line but Barron's play has been very questionable after the Vikings game and I'm not sure he should be kept anymore. Possibly can get a another draft pick out of him. Randy McMichael has been a huge disspointment to me so far (his underutilization is partly to blame) and i think a big name tight end should also be looked at if available.

Re: Shurmer has had long enough

We are all assuming too much. The bottom line is we don't know how many 20+ yard receiver routes were called since it's kind of hard to complete many throws to covered receivers or when you're lying on your back. Could Shurmer have told Boller to just run back and heave it deep anywhere? Sure, if you want our "practice-squad-QB" to throw more int's or risk being killed.

I'm not defending Shumer at all. I completely agree there where too many 2nd or 3rd and long draws and screens to Jax. Why, especially since their D is keying so much on Jax?

What was most interesting to me was when I watched a TV sideline shot of a what looked like a frowning Spags questioning Shurmer following another miserably failed 3rd and long draw play called late in the game. Shortly after, there was another sideline shot of a clearly distraught Shurmer shaking his head.

Look we all know it is bad, but we really cant just keep changing Oc's on a whim here. Give him another year and some more talent from the draft and FA. Lets see if he is still bad next year. After that, we might just have to cut our losses.
