  • The Browns win....

....puts us one step closer in the Donkey Kong sweepstakes. I suppose that's a good thing in this most miserable of seasons. Their win last night gives the Rams the #1 overall pick, currently. A couple of games, this weekend, of interest in the Rams draft order situation:

    Bucs over the Jets (obviously)
Dolphins over the Jags (this boosts the Bucs SOS and drops ours)
Titans over the.......(I just can't do it; I refuse to root against the Rams)
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

What's more disturbing than anything to me is why we haven't pulled off an upset this season?! I mean that BROWNS team is horrible....yet they pulled off a huge upset over the Steelers!!!!

C'mon RAMS you must have at least one....

I think if Bulger had stayed healthy that upset win may have happened. They were gaining momentum up untill his injury.

Having the 1st pick in the draft is a potential disaster for this team. Sure there is no salary cap in 2010, but there is a good chance there will be one in forthcoming seasons ...

Back to back #2 picks, then the #1. That is a HUGE amount of money tied up in players, one is which is slowly improving (Long), the other that is currently a HUGE question mark since he cannot recover from a concussion ...

Only positive is, I bet there are a handful of teams out there that might potentially want to jump to #1 and take Suh. Maybe we can dump it for several other picks if we end up there ...

I think that in the conditions they played in last night, we may have also upset the steelers, purely on the legs of steven jackson. Well, maybe if Bulger was healthy too. And Atowge. And Jason Smith. And Fletcher. And Carriker?

Anyway, back to the harsh real world...

I like this idea. We need more volume with the holes we have to fill and one player will not do it. Plus, there is pressure to the number 1 draft pick. So much hype, money and expectations. Better to get a few slots here.

As always, though, there is the question of trade partner. For every team that wants extra picks for the #1, there has to be a team that wants the #1 for extra picks.

I think you make an excellent point here, not only is there alot of money tied up for 3 players but if we so choose to re-sign said players it's going to cost alot more, which means that we may be only renting these players untill their next contract.

Forget about it no owner or GM wants the rams first pick which will probably be the number one overall pick in the 2010 draft, capped year or not.

It is VERY unlikely that anyone would want to trade up to the 1st pick, as mentioned above. If that is the case, I will be happy if we take Suh. I'm not too excited about taking any of the QB's that will be available with the first three picks in the draft. It all starts on the front lines and it has been a long time since the Rams were solid in that department. It's time to make lemonade out of lemons. I have a feeling that Suh will be the tonic that will hit the spot for years to come. Defense wins championships...or so the story goes. Let's grab Suh and be excited about it!

GC said a few years back, "Bring me the head of Hawk!" I would say the same thing in this case, "Bring us the head of Suh!"

                      Go Rams!!!

In my opinion too many people are trying to over think this.

                        Suh is a beast.

We have had countless debates on this board about picking the Best Player Available versus Biggest need when drafting.

                        Suh is both.

I hope we win out. I hope we don't have the #1 pick... but if we do I hope we draft Suh.

                        (Cue the overly dramatic music)

If we have the chance and we pass on Suh it could be our worst draft decision in the last decade... and that is saying a lot.

as has been discussed, though high draft picks technically make a lot of money not very much of it counts against the cap...

I really can't see anybody worth No. 1 pick, except Suh! I don't mean just worth for us, than generally.

ST. LOUIS - Tight end Randy McMichael is convinced the St. Louis Rams will get their first win of the season on Sunday, when they host the Cleveland Browns.

McMichael is so sure of it that he has guaranteed a victory for the Rams, who at 0-7 are to the worst start in franchise history.

“We have nothing else to say - we are going to win the football game,” he said.

That might be bulletin board fodder for the Browns, who are well rested following their bye week.

The Rams are a team in turmoil and the emotions boiled over in last week’s 33-6 loss at Seattle. Quarterback Marc Bulger got into a heated exchange with coach Scott Linehan on the sidelines.

“I’m a little angry about things, embarrassed about things, frustrated about things,” Bulger said after the game.

The Rams have not scored a touchdown in eight quarters and lead the NFL in giveaways with 23, including 11 in the last two games. Bulger was responsible for all five turnovers against the Seahawks with three interceptions and two fumbles.

While the Rams are dealing with internal issues, the Browns are an improving team whose confidence is growing. Cleveland is only one game behind first-place Pittsburgh in the AFC North.

The Browns also are in the midst of a favorable schedule, playing back-to-back games against winless teams for the first time in franchise history.

On October 14, the Browns defeated the 0-5 Miami Dolphins, 41-31, as Derek Anderson tossed three touchdown passes - all to Braylon Edwards.

Anderson has led the Browns to a 3-2 record since taking over for Charlie Frye, who was traded to Seattle after a season-opening 34-7 loss to the Steelers.

Anderson has thrown 14 touchdowns passes in just five games -third in the NFL behind New England’s Tom Brady (27) and Dallas’ Tony Romo (16).

me: I really wish these guys would quit guarenteeing wins every week - it kind of loses its zing after getting blown out the first week.. Yet after several blow outs after guarenteed wins its getting ridiculous.. Why not start with guarenteeing they'll score a freakin touchdwon this week to start with?

Who gets the #1 pick if all three teams end up 1-15 or 2-14? I read on wikipedia that it's determined by strength of schedule, in which case the Rams would probably get the #1 pick. Is this correct?

These two NFL teams aren’t favored to win a single game during the 2017 season

These two NFL teams aren’t favored to win a single game during the 2017 season

After taking a look at the 2017 NFL schedule, the oddsmakers in Las Vegas have decided there’s two teams in the league that they really don’t like this year: the
Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Rams..

Things are so bad that neither team is favored to win a single game during the first 16 weeks of the upcoming NFL season (this is the opposite of the
New England Patriots, who are favored to win every game they play in 2017).

If you’re wondering how we already know the spreads for those games, it’s because Vegas sportsbook CG Technology released their weekly regular season lines on Tuesday, and for the second year in a row, it looks like betting against the Browns might be the fastest way to pad your bank account.

Overall, the Browns are an underdog of at least one touchdown in nine of their first 15 games. The biggest point spread the Browns will face this year is 9.5 points, which will happen a total of four times — at Baltimore, at Indianapolis, at Houston, vs. Green Bay.

The one upside for the Browns this year is that they’re not going to be an underdog in every game. Although they’re not favored to win in any of their games, they have been listed as a pick’em for their Week 5 game against the New York Jets..

The Browns haven’t been favored to win a game since the 2015 season. They were an underdog in all 16 games they played in 2016. As a matter of fact, betting against the Browns was an easy way to make money last season.

In 16 games, the Browns went an atrocious 3-12-1 against the spread last year, which means if you had bet $110 against them in every game they played last year, you would’ve ended the season with a nice profit of $870. According to FiveThirtyEight.com, the Browns’ 3-12-1 showing ATS was tied for the sixth-worst mark in NFL history.

As for the Rams, Vegas seems to think it could be a rough first season for new coach Sean McVay.

Not only are the Rams an underdog in every game, but they’ll even top the Browns in one category: largest spread.

The biggest spread either team will face in 2017 comes in Week 15, when the Rams are 13.5-point underdogs for a game in Seattle.

The closest the Rams come to being favored happens in Week 3, when they’re only a 1.5-point underdog for a game in San Francisco.

The point spreads for Week 17 haven’t been released yet, which could end up being the week where the Rams are favored. During the final week of the season. L.A. will be hosting the *****. On the other hand, don’t look for the Browns to be favored in Week 17 because they’ll be playing at Pittsburgh.

2016 schedule with point spreads (Browns, Rams)

                                Week 1:
                                Pittsburgh Steelers
                                at Browns (+9),
                                Indianapolis Colts
                                at Rams (+3)
