  • 2010 Team

2010 lets move on and up: My opinion on Null is if he performs well enough in the final two games and can be coached up the Rams will consider Mr Null as a prospective starter. The Rams should use their high draft choices for more essential needs. Just to name a few D-line, O-line, backup running back, shut down corner, linebacker, wide receiver. Any of those positions need as much improvement as quarterback, in fact probably more. With a good offensive line and productive receivers Bulger is above average at his position, however I believe Mr Bulger is overpaid and should take a pay cut. It seems since Bulger received his raise his performance went downhill and so did the entire team.
    How about you guys???

How can you draft a shutdown corner?
you can draft a good prospect, but a "shotdown corner"?
        like Tye Hill?

I agree that the Rams need to move on and up in 2010, but I think Null is far from being considered as a perspective starter next year. I don't think two throw away games at the end of the year will be an accurate assessment of his ability to lead this team. I like a lot of what i saw from Null against Houston, but he has a long way to go before challenging anyone for a starting spot in this league For example, I think Null was accurate, threw with nice velocity, and showed good poise in the pocket. His teammates seem to like the way he handles himself in the huddle, and he seems to have a good understanding of what he knows of this offense. I like the fact that he showed a lot of improvement. I still think the Rams should take a QB in the draft, but not in the first round. Remember, Montana was a 3rd rounder, and Brady was a 6th.

Then by all means, go there instead of here.

If people post something other than what you feel is reallity, don't go call them insane or looney. They have just as much right to speculate on what is best for the RAMS as you do. If Brady can become all world from a very low round draft pick, why can't Null? Yeah, I know he likely won't get the benifit of questionable officiating, but he could still do just as well.

God knows that Warner, someone that was drafted worse than Null and Brady, like not at all, has never done anything to warrant a starting QB role. :sarcasm

No, I am not saying Keith Null will be another Kurt Warner. Nor am I saying he won't be. From what I can find on him on the NET, he appears to be a winner. Let's see if he can continue that with the RAMS. At the very least, we should acknowledge that he deserves the chance to compete.

Null wont get the starting job for next season during this season. However he has more then earned the right to stay on the team, and compete for the job during training camp and preseason.

We should still draft a qb with a 2nd or third round pick though.

                    Re: 2010 Team

Null will never be a true starting-caliber quarterback. His "poise" may be acceptable, but he lacks the skills to match. Most of the people here say Bulger will never get this team to a Super Bowl, etc. Guess what? Null won't either. He is not the second coming of Warner, the GSOT will not reawaken, and the sooner all of us come to grips with this, the sooner we can continue with the rebuilding process.

With all due respect to Keith Null, I don't feel that his two performances have been so noteworthy as to warrant any significant changes to draft strategy. You don't need to condemn a guy for a five interception debut, but you don't anoint him as heir apparent for it, either.

On a side note, how do people keep classifying back-up running back as an "essential" need. More essential than starting quarterback? Really?

Thoughts on Null: I agree with what has been previosuly stated that Null definetely deserves to stay on the team as of now. After the draft we should have a quarterback competition and let the best guy play. If Null doesn't beat out the other guys adios. He's virtually playing from the bottom up. From what ive seen he has a good arm, not a cannon, good accuracy, not exceptional, and great poise for a rookiee. Next year after an entire offseason of film study and work on his passer mechanics. The Bar will raise and we will expect to see more out of him. @PeoriaRam: i really dont see where you get off closing the book on Null already. The guys a minnow swimming with the sharks. Give him some time to use and reflect on his experience he's gained. If next year he comes out making the same mistakes repeatedly then you move on.

I think there needs to be a fierce quarterback competition this offseason though, we can't afford to waste a season evaluating talent while tanking the season. I dont think i can take another season with less than 5 wins...

I can hardly remember a 5 win season. That would be really nice.
