  • Important Game? Compare Offenses? PULEAZE!

This is a big game but hardly the tell all end all for either team. If the Rams can go in and steal a win, it just may be the initial stumbling block the Seahawks need to send them into a tailspin. They have the one game lead but if they slip Sunday suddenly the Rams are very much in control of this division. If the Rams should lose it's hardly as devastating as one may first interpret it to be. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what needs to happen for the Rams to win this division. First of all as much as people (Hawk fans) like to tease themselves, the Rams offense is still a better unit then Seattle’s in fact, fantasy is what drives folks to believe that a dink and dunk attack can even be talked about in the same breath or compared to a legitimate downfield passing attack. So long as the Seahawks continue to run the dink express they need not consider comparing the two offenses because its apples and oranges. So Holmgrun as much as I’d like to give your unit credit, its nothing more then a cast off of the boring Walsh gimmick that ruined football. Sure the dink express running up and down the field nickel and dimming they’re way to Field Goals and the occasional TD has it’s positive sides however when comparing talent at skilled positions in the two offenses get out some film of the 2002 Raiders another dink attack which completed over 80 percent of their passes within 10 yards downfield. There you can compare your apples to other apples. Turning back to what I was saying before I so rudely interrupted myself all the Rams have to do to win this division is show improvement on defense. If this defense is playing the way they are now at seasons end, then they will be home for the playoffs. If however they can take large steps toward improvement, Seattle is not the only team that should fear the Rams. Hello Indy

Let's see, if the Rams win they are in control of the division. But if they lose it's not really a big deal. How does that work? Either they win and they are back in the title hunt 1/2 game behind, or the lose and they are 2 1/2 games behind Seattle. A two game swing is pretty big and could be devastating.

So it is the dink and dunk express that has the Seahawks ranked 10 in scoring over the 11th ranked Rams? This is why the Seahawks only have one less TD in three games (8) than the Rams have in 4 (9). The Greatest Show on Turf as kicked 6 field field goals to only 3 by the dink and dunk express? Come on RamTime.

With very Little talent (pun intended) and Marmie in his first year as Rams DC, I see very little hope for a dramatic improvement in the Rams D this year. It's possible by the second half of the season they could come on strong, but by that time the damage on the season may have already been done.

Eh? Last season the Seahawks ranked sixth in the NFL with 351.7 yrd of total offense per game, compared to the Ram's ninth ranked 341.1.

Our yds per play was 5.5, tied for fifth in the NFL, compared to the Rams 14th ranked 5.2.

In Passing yds, the Rams 247.6 yds/game ranked 3rd, well ahead of Seattle's 7th ranked 226.1.

But our 10th ranked 125.6 rushing yards per game compared to the Ram's 93.5 (third WORST in the entire NFL, even below Arizona's awesome ground attack) more than made up for it.

The Ram's did, however, outscore us with a third ranked 27.9 pts/game compared to our seventh ranked 25.2.

So far this season it must be admitted that our O hasn't gotten on track yet and the Rams have clearly outgained us in the air, but we've still outscored you 21.7 pts/game to 20.8.
