His article hasn't been published on the Post Dispatch's site, but here's what he said in his forum...

      I just filed a story...

I'll provide details in a little while ...

But this is good news, I believe, for St. Louis.

The potential owner is committed to keeping the team here. He has roots in the region.

      (It's not Checketts.)

"Mister X" was the man, after all.

(And no, it ain't Dr. Chaifetz either, as I told you.)

        Name: Shahid Khan.

Who is he: Khan, 55, is the president of Flex-N-Gate Corporation, an auto-parts manufacturer based in Urbana, Ill.

Where does he live: Khan has lived in the Champaign-Urbana area for more than 40 years and is married with two adult children. Khan is a graduate of the school of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Illinois.

What is he buying: According to league sources Khan will purchase the 60 percent of the team owned by Chip Rosenbloom and Lucia Rodriguez. But if Stan Kroenke wants to sell his 40 percent then Khan is prepared to buy that as well.

What are his thoughts on STL and the Rams: Multiple sources describe Khan as an enthusiastic Rams fan who has attended home games at The Edward Jones Dome. League sources say Khan is committed to keeping the team in St. Louis ... which was an important consideration to Rosenbloom and Rodriguez in making their decision to sell to him.

The sale is subject to approval of NFL owners. They can't vote on it until the closing of the sale which probably won't be finished until early April or so.

This is great news for the city of St Louis and the Rams. I'm a huge Coyotes fan, so I know what its like to almost lose your home team. Good for the fans in St Louis.

Yeah, I really hate it when somebody robs me and takes something I stole - lke what happened with the Rams being stolen from Cleveland....

Just yanking your chain. I'm glad the Rams have a "local" guy waiting to become the owner.

The new owner is a Rams fan, wants to see a winner, and has put his life's worth into it instead of inheriting it. This is the first owner since Carroll R. to meet all those specifications......

.....and you think that's a BAD thing?

I'm sorry, I just don't get that line of reasoning. Our owner's box wants a winner, and you as a fan don't like it?

his desire to take the Rams back to LA has overridden his desire to see a winning product, in short, he has descended into madness and despair.....

let's let him lie down for a bit.....hopefully he'll come around...

And for all those "LA" Rams fans and not "Saint Louis" Rams fans, like fellow clanmate on here posted....no hard feelings

Congratulations to the Rams and congratulations to the City of St. Louis! Let's hope Mr. Khan is a really good team owner and the league approves of the purchase. Let's also hope the city keeps supporting the team for decades to come! I can't wait to see them come out here to our new stadium some day and play!

I'm glad he's a fan of the Rams. But is he a foreigner? I'm reading conflicting reports. I'm not too happy with American monuments being bought by the Japanese, Ameriacn car factories being bought out by the Germans, American beer companies being taken over by Belgian companies, and now Pakistani's buying up American football teams. Again I've been reading conflicting reports, so idk for sure if he's a citizen or not. I hope so.

Xenophobe much? The guy has lived in this country longer (over 40 years) than many on this forum. Just because his name is not Smith or Johnson doesn't mean he's going to run the team off to Pakistan.

I think you need to hold your horses and do a little research before making comments like this. Regardless of WHERE he was born, he's a graduate of an American university, continued to live here, has his life here, and even more importantly owns a LOCAL company that employes nearly 10,000 people. I'm personally disappointed to hear comments like this coming from a Rams fan and will disparagingly ask, what have you done for this country more than him (citizen or not)?

                                From Bernie's Pressbox:

                                We are reporting this:

Team president John Shaw has offered his recommendation to Rams owner Georgia Frontiere: Scott Lenihan as the new head coach.

                                She'll have to approve.

That may not happen until tomorrow.

It's not official. But getting close.

                                Pretty easy to figure out.
Torry has been hearing all offseason how the Rams veteran WRs are old and slow and don't get yards after the catch. He's had Al Saunders holler at him in a film session, for always going down after making a catch instead of getting some yards. He's been hearing how the Rams added speed and YAC after drafting Avery.

Big Game isn't going to play along with that one.

                                It's pride.

I give 100 percent, unabashed kudos to Al Saunders.

Every guy on this offense needs to be challenged after the disgrace of 2007.

The standards have to be raised again.

And as good as Holt is, he can be better.

                                No free passes.

Saunders looked at film and didn't recognize Holt, because all he saw was Holt catching the ball and going down. And he asked Holt: where is the guy I used to coach?

                                If Holt doesn't like it?

                                Big effin' deal.

I for one am grateful that someone is trying to raise the standards.

I mentioned a few guys in Saturday's column who had double-digit sacks as rookie DE. But historically the odds are against it. I noticed while doing research (I wasn't able to print it all) that a few rookie DE were able to get 7, 8 sacks. That's a good total. if Long can do that, it's a nice season - and then it's a question of when and if he can take it to the next level. Justin Smith had 8.5 sacks as a rookie and to this point hasn't cracked double digits - and in fact has become less productive as a pass rusher. Playing the run is a necessity and Long should be good at it.

Same principle ... which is: coach must have a better rapport with players.

But different personalities are in play... if anything Linehan has to be more forceful and demanding, where as Coughlin had to turn it down a couple of notches.

Whats worse: Edmonds to CHI or Bruce to SF?

                                Bruce for sure.

Original STL Ram. Here for the rising. His career rise coincided with the rise of the STL Rams. Won a SB with his catch.

Edmonds already had achieved good success with another franchise before coming here.
