i hate to say this but its time for a change at the qb position. i mean marc was great for a couple years but after that he became a second rate player at best. we should have had a new qb after the 2008 season. bulger is at best now a decent back up. then you got are other 2 qb kyle boller and keith null 2 guys who have the skills of ryan leaf. the problem im at is who is out there for the rams to draft or pick up in free agency. i mean the first overall pick is gonna be suh no if ands or but. so maybe with the 2 round pick we could get someone out there im sure there will be some decent qbs left. id like to see them maybe pick up mccoy or tebow i mean tebows got all the skills he just needs to sit a season or 2 and pick up on everything just like aaron rodgers. but i dont think the rams have time to wait on a qb to develope. then theres free agency but theres really no starting qb out there the rams could pick up. someone tell me whos gonna be the qb in 2010?

Re: whos gonna be the qb of the rams in 2010
Unfortunately it will probably be Bulger due to the severe lack of quality QB's in free agency and with the #1 pick we almost have to take Suh. We could grab a guy like Tony Pike in the 2nd round but expecting him to come in and start is not gonna happen. So pretty much we're stuck with Bulger  unless we trade for a guy...Brady Quinn/Derick Anderson.

Jamie Dukes was breaking down Vick on NFL network. Was noting how Chris Johnson's ypg went up like 60 yds after Young replace Collins. Says even though Vick isn't that great a passer the running game w/ SJ would go to near tops in the league due to the opposing lb's and ends fearing what could happen if he (Vick) got outside. Kinda interesting. As opposed as I was to the idea I'm not ENTIRELY against it anymore. I mean we gotta do SOMETHING right? Besides, I want Suh.If a team won their division seven straight times, that would be a NFL record. Now add on that team did it with seven different QB's in seven straight years, that record is unbeatable. To do that feat, you must of had a great Defense. Jack Youngblood was the captain of that defense.

i really dont know about vick, he is the complete opposite of what spags and billy d seem to be all about: the young ascending players that fit the 4 pillars.
maybe they realise that nice guys only get you so far...
i dont think vick has the skills anymore and the only reason we would sign him is to excite the fan base and give a new rookie a year holding the clipboard.

I feel the same way but would rather look at getting one of the Browns Qb

I'm going to say Jimmy Clausen. I think we are going to either draft Sam Bradford or Jimmy Clausen at number one. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Clausen has more experience playing under center because I usually only see Bradford in the spread. This makes me think that it would be easier for Clausen to transition to the NFL.

I hate to say it but I think Vick will be in St. Louis next season, can he add some excitement and possibly pull out a few games with his legs, maybe, maybe not but I think the FO is willing to take that chance, this organization really needs to win some games next season, rebuilding or not they need to give the fanbase something to cheer about.

by richtreeOk, we will be picking top 5 again at best 6th.
QB is number 1 priority.
Unless we go after Kolb, Vick, or Derek Anderson we are picking a QB in Round 1.
So is it gonna be Teabow, Bradford, or McCoy?
Then the big Question is what need to we get in round 2?
So would agrue if there is big time play maker on the defensive side of the ball we should grad a big time LB or DE that can rush the QB.
I will continue to update this thread based on who we should be looking at, and who we should avoid.
I feel we should try to grab a OLineman in free agency this year and our draft picks should be used on QB, WR, DLine, StronSide LB.
I really haven't gotten to look at who will be free agents in the league and what our options are, so this is just to spark convo throughout what looks to be a 4 win season at very best.
TBC......

from Pro Football Weekly
It sure doesn't seem like the Rams' eventual starting quarterback in 2010 is currently on the roster.
That likelihood became greater courtesy of recent well-founded rumors that QB Marc Bulger could be seriously contemplating retirement after another rough season.
Bulger, this year's starter until suffering a season-ending fractured shin bone at the end of November, was already considered by many a long shot to return next season after shooting mostly blanks for the third season in a row.
"But as far as him still being the best quarterback on the team, it's not even close," said one insider of the 32-year-old Bulger, whose release or retirement would save the team a net $4.5 million under the salary cap next season.
After Bulger went down, primary backup Kyle Boller stumbled his way through two starts before passing the baton to sixth-round rookie Keith Null for the final four games.
"I'll be surprised if Boller is back," the insider said of the unrestricted free agent and former first-round draft pick of the Ravens who continued to be primarily done in by untimely turnovers.
"Maybe it could be Null. He certainly got some great experience. He has the size and arm strength, and he's very grounded with a good demeanor. But most of the time, he looked like you'd expect a sixth-round pick from a Division II school (West Texas A&M) to look — totally overwhelmed."
The consensus is that while Null proved he could have a future at the pro level, he remains best suited at this stage of his development as a No. 3 quarterback.
As for who will enter the offseason filling the No. 1 QB role, it's anybody's guess at the moment.
If there was a franchise-caliber QB worthy of the Rams' first overall pick in the upcoming draft, he probably would be a no-brainer pick in late April.
But the consensus is that this year's QB crop is ordinary at best, which continues to make Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh the Rams' most likely No. 1 pick.
"The best option could be to draft a QB that they like high in the second or third round and get a veteran 'bridge guy' to start next year," the insider said.
A "bridge guy" like Michael Vick, who had a history in Atlanta with Rams GM Billy Devaney?
We hear that's one name that figures to at least be discussed.
Gosh .. I wonder who that insider was .. any guesses??-

by THOLTFAN81Everyone on this forum knows where I stand as I have taken plenty of negative rep due to my feelings on us getting Michael Vick. However, if the Rams dont acquire Vick or a veteran quarterback then we almost MUST draft a QB with our first round pick. I would be very disappointed if we went into the season with the three stooges (Bulger, Boller, Null) as the top Qbs on our depth chart. If we don't get a veteran QB, based on his pro days, etc. Sam Bradford is the no-brainer choice in my eyes.
And Avenger, now you truly know that if the Rams don't sign Vick i will not pought or hold anything against them but would begin to heavily embrace drafting a Quarterback of the future in Sam Bradford.
BTW- I am strongly AGAINST Jimmy Clausen..really not a fan of him, dont think hes that good at all.
I know Tampa LOVES Suh so if we don't get a veteran QB i would really like to see us trade the 1st overall to Tampa for their first round third overall and their third round third overall. In this we obtain an extra top 5 3rd round pick while ensuring we get the QB of our choice because Tampa and Detroit won't be taking a QB.
Thoughts?-

by Richbert88This team still has alot of things to do before becoming a playoff caliber team. Young players maturing..............players staying healthy.
I would much rather see the Rams address other needs. If things go poorly again, which with they're luck with injuries it will, then next year they might have a shot at Locker. And that may well be the last very high pick this team sees in a while.
I think Suh in the first, then chase BPA in round 2 and 3, then needs in the rest of the draft. Continue to sign young FAs.
Whose going to play QB? Whose playing it now.
Little may retire? who knows. Let's get the rest of the base team fixed up before the QB of the future arrives. Rothsburger style.-
