  • Help Wanted!

With free agency starting, I thought I'd go back through the list of notable Rams vacancies. Note that this list is specific to positions that were filled in 2009 by players who are no longer on the roster. This means starting quarterback and #1 receiver don't show up unless/until someone is signed who would unseat the current starter (or the current starter is released). Of course, not all will necessarily be filled through free agency, but it will be interesting to see how things play out. As they are addressed, I'll update with names.

    Starting Right Guard -
Starting Tackle - Alex Barron tendered but not yet signed.
Starting Tight End - Daniel Fells re-signed
Backup Quarterback - A.J. Feeley signed.
    Backup Runningback -

    Starting Left Defensive End -
Starting Left Defensive Tackle -Fred Robbins signed.
Starting Right Defensive Tackle - Clifton Ryan tendered but not yet signed.
    Starting Weakside Linebacker -
Starting Strongside Linebacker - David Vobora tendered under exclusive rights contract.
Starting Free Safety - O.J. Atogwe tendered but not yet signed.
    Nickelback/Corner -
Backup Strong Safety - Craig Dahl re-signed.

Would Justin King not fill the role of nickel back?

Forgetting WR...we dont have a true #1. Avery is a solid #2 reciever. Gibson and Robinson are solid slot guys. None of those guys are true #1s

King might move into that role, but I'm focusing on the vacancy left in the wake of Wade's departure.

Receiver is not on there to illustrate that these are things we need to take care of just to get back to where we were last year. Even if we're not going to land a major name in free agency, we've got a lot of last year's starters on the open market who will need to be re-signed or replaced.
