  • Rams hosting DB Kevin Dockery

The Rams are hosting free agent CB Kevin Dockery on Thursday.
Dockery was a quality nickel back as recently as 2008, but he struggled mightily last season while playing through a hamstring injury. Familiar with coach Steve Spagnuolo's defense, he'd be a worthwhile addition for the Rams.

Listed as 5'8/188 on Rotoworld. Doesn't really seem like the kind of DB we're going after now. I wouldn't mind him as depth though.

He wont be more than a nickel back, but would be good depth

Rams need a nickel back he was a good one when healthy in 2008 under Spags. I would bring him in let Butler and king compete for the dime

Wow we are in desperate need of a nickel guy, and this DB happens to know Spag's defense? Match made in heaven? BRING HIM IN!

          Is Dockery no.2 corner?
          by Bing69
I was just looking through the official Rams site depth chart, and they have Dockery listed as the no.2, or rcb as they put it! I always thought he was more of a nickel corner?

As its only pre-season i know the current depth chart doesnt mean much. Fletcher is still coming back from injury, and Murphy is only a rookie.

But, do you think Dockery has what it takes to establish himself as the no.2 corner?

How do you guys see the corner position settling during the season, barring injuries...?

I personally would like to see Fletcher get another chance opposite Bartell, he was improving until the injury bug hit!!

          We will be fine
          by Will51
I can honestly say that our defense will be fine this year, now this is just my opinion but bartell is a stud and wade has talent, and there is only one way to bring the best of talent out of a player and it is great coaching and we have that by far. look what spags did in NY, the giants had sub par cornerbacks like ross and spags brought the best out of them and things played out fine. now we have laurinits, bartell, little, long , witherspoon, atogwa, and butler. that is 7 players out of 11 on defense who have great talent, some even out up pro bowl stats every year.combine that with the scheme on defense that spags will install and with a questioned division and we should do wonders. our offense is fine, if we can even get mediocre play out of bulger(not turnin it over/manage the game) we have the talent to break in as a wild card, lets not be so down, i can guarantee you we have more talent at this point then miami and atlanta did last year, this will be a good year!

Rumor: Rams Looking for a Nickel CB
          by viper
The St. Louis Rams, who've been attached to every Atlanta Falcons free agent since time began, are now looking into Ronnie Brown in addition to Falcons RB Jason Snelling, Michael Lombardi reports. Lombardi says they're also looking for a nickel CB -- the dream of the Rams acquiring Falcons CB Brian Williams to complete the set is alive.

          Spags and the Rams Defense
          by maineram
Just going with the current players on defense, who's in / who's out and where do they fit in the new defense.

DL - Poviding he takes a pay cut, Little may have a very important role.

LB - Will he bring in a REAL middle backer and where does Pisa fit in

Db's - who's in / who's out, and who can he build with.

Very interesting how the defense will evolve this offseason. Where will he make his moves ??

          CB Murphy Tweaks Hamstring

          CB Murphy tweaks hamstring

          BY JIM THOMAS
          Thursday, December 2, 2010

Even without Kurt Warner at quarterback, Arizona still uses a lot of three_ and four-wide receiver sets. So the St. Louis Rams will need just about every cornerback available for Sunday's game in Glendale, Ariz.

But rookie Jerome Murphy, who has been the Rams' third or fourth corner most of the season, was limited in practice Thursday after tweaking his hamstring.

"That happened in special teams practice," coach Steve Spagnuolo said.

If Murphy can't go against the Big Red, he would be replaced by either Quincy Butler or Kevin Dockery. Butler has participated in only a handful of plays since signing with the team Oct. 25 and has been inactive the past three games. Dockery has been inactive the past two games following his rocky start Nov. 14 in San Francisco.

Fullback Mike Karney, who was on the pregame inactive list in Denver, did not practice Thursday because of what Spagnuolo said was "a groin issue."

The rest of the team's official injury report was unchanged from Wednesday: defensive tackle Darell Scott (foot) was limited and punter Donnie Jones (calf) and cornerback Justin King (shoulder) were full participation Thursday.
