SEATTLE (AP) -- St. Louis free safety Aeneas Williams left the Rams' game against Seattle because of a pinched nerve in his neck.

The eight-time Pro Bowl player was hurt late in the first half.

The Rams also lost defensive tackle Tyoka Jackson to a strained hamstring.

Jay Williams Returns to the Rams
          by AvengerRam_old
          From Post-Dispatch

The Rams brought back another Williams and another veteran from their 1999 Super Bowl championship season on Wednesday.

Free agent defensive end Jay Williams, who spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Rams, has re-signed with the team.

Williams signed a three-year, $2.65 million deal, which included a $300,000 signing bonus. Earlier this month, the Rams signed free-agent tight end Roland Williams, another member of the squad that defeated Tennessee in Super Bowl XXXIV.

Where's Aeneas: Never has a probable Hall of Famer left a team, and the game, as quietly as defensive back Aeneas Williams did after the 2004 Rams season. Williams, 37, was an unrestricted free agent following his injury-plagued campaign.

The Rams showed no interest in re-signing him. However, Williams has made no retirement announcement, and according to his agent, Eugene Parker, hasn't ruled out returning to the NFL.

"I think he's keeping his options open, maybe for the right situation," Parker said Tuesday.

And if the right situation came along?

"I think he would consider (playing)," Parker said. "He's in shape. He's just taking his time and keeping his options open. ... He's not quick to make decisions. He's pretty thoughtful."

Williams, an eight-time Pro Bowler, spent the past four seasons with the Rams after playing 10 years for the Arizona Cardinals.

St. Louis Rams S Aeneas Williams (neck, shoulder) aggravated a pinched nerve in his neck and shoulder area during Week 12 and underwent an MRI Tuesday, Nov. 30. Williams has dealt with this problem for much of the season, but he may be forced to sit out a game or two due to the aggravation of it.

What ever happened to the idea of having Aeneas Williams as a assistant DB coach or something like that?

I dont think it would be a bad idea to bring him in and teach some of our young DB's, because he has experience at all postions in the secondary.
