With the news James Hall has re-signed shelving interest from the Saints, and Daniel Fells re-signing ignoring the Patriots offer i cant help but htink the current coaching staff are the real deal. Why would 2 players turn down potential superbowl winners to play for the lowly rams?

I think the tide is slowly turning. Even the colts gm said he likes what Spags n Devaney are doing. The most important thing is we're doing it the right way, heres to watching an exciting team in the next few seasons...

It takes time to rebuild a team. I think they will do a good job.

One thing fans mistakenly do is assume all players would rather play for a team that's successful rather than a team that has struggled. Not necessarily true. If a player is comfortable in his surroundings and happy with the environment, many times they will stay with that team rather than uprooting their family and trekking across the country.

While neither Fells nor Hall are difference makers, they fill needs. And the fact they want to stay in St. Louis says something positive about Spags, Devaney and the message they're trying to send.

I think it almost has to at this point. It's nearly impossible to be any worse, and it certainly looks like we're headed in the right direction.

Hopefully Atogwe will sign again soon. Its sad to say, but he probably isnt worth what he thinks he is on the open market

I'm confident they've got it figured out, and I'm pretty upset that the cap ruined FA this year because we really could have added to this squad and made a splash this year.

Who says it was Hall who turned down the Saints? His visit with them was nearly two weeks ago, and the Saints GM said there were no developments after that. As for Fells, we don't know how his negotiations went with New England.

It takes two sides for a player to sign with a new team, and while the Saints and Patriots were said to be interested in Hall and Fells respectively, there didn't appear to be much news beyond their interest. It would seem to me that, in order to turn down potential Super Bowl winners, you actually have to have a contract on the table from them and choose to go elsewhere. We don't know if that was the case.

I tend to agree with NJ. There are a number of reasons why a free agent may want to re-sign with a lowly team. If he's moved his family here or has become involved in the city or community, he may not want to uproot himself to a new place. He may like the coaches he's working with. Maybe it's the best offer he got, as well. And yeah, maybe it's a sign that things are moving in the right direction and these guys want to be a part of it.

All of them are possible, but I think we have to be honest about other factors besides the turn-around as well.

I read on the Ram website some reasons Hall put on the table for staying:
“The reasons I stayed in St. Louis are I have a lot of respect for Coach Spagnuolo, what he’s trying to do here,” Hall said. “We spoke several times toward the end of the season. We spoke a couple times in the offseason and that played heavily into me coming back. Some of the reasons why I didn’t go back to New Orleans, I had to take into consideration moving my family down there was one and whether or not some of the hassles of going back to your hometown being a professional athlete were not something I wanted to deal with. Saying that, it would have been a wonderful opportunity to play for your home team. Every guy wants to do that, but you’ve always got to take your family into consideration. There were several other things in consideration when you make a decision like that.”--James Hall

Spags sure seems to leave a positive impression on players, and its not just 1 or 2 guys saying it, its everything I read. It makes it easy to pull for him I think

There could also be more job security in staying put. A guy could still get cut and be on the street. A bird in the hand and all that.
