  • Will this draft be the draft that the changes the Rams?

I think this could be the draft that changes the Rams into a wildcard team not this upcoming year but in 2 years.

    what does everyone think?

Every draft is important to every team, but the higher up you're picking the more important the draft becomes. Especially when it's a team taht has gone from 3 wins to 2 wins to 1 win.

Even if we hit this draft out of the park it won't matter if we don't do well in the proceeding years as well. The Rams need for last years draft to turn out well, and this year's and 2011's along with a good free agency. If we do all that, then we can be a good or even great team in 2 years, yes.

I sure hope it dose, but not trying to be funny we will have to wait in see what the picks are and you are right we still want know then for a few years. I wonder will the coach and GM be here at that time. The picks they make may be for the next group of folks.

if we are a playoff team in the coming years, i think we'll look back at last years draft as the turning point.
i know its too early to tell but all signs are that last years picks appear good choices and look a lot better than recent years.

the 2008 draft wasnt too bad, we still have 7 guys on the roster. long, avery, burton, king etc.
but 2006 and 2007... seriously? cliff ryan and mark setterstrom are the only guys we have left from each draft.
        thats disgusting and absolutely horrific.

looks like actually having a scouting department and a football brain as gm does infact help your football team!
        amazing huh

True, I forgot about him. Hasn't he been outstanding for us and great value for a first rounder.

Every draft changes us in some way.

And I'm not saying it's always a positive change either.

06 07 and 08 we picked defensive guys in the first round.07 and 08 where defensive lineman. I think we need to invest more into the offence the first round this year like a QB. Not another defensive lineman.

And the 06 defender is gone and the 07 defender may soon be gone. So maybe we shouldn't justify going offense based on past draft practices.

                        Draft Day...what do you do?
                        by txramsfan
Seriously, I tried last year to watch the draft. Thought that it might be relaxing after a strenous tax season. However, I found myself longing for the guy who painted little trees in the corner because the bushes needed friends. That's how boring I thought this "draft coverage" was. So, how do you make it enjoyable?

This year, it's golf. You know, they should make one of those ESPN commercials about me when I'm going to be fixated on my phone while the draft is on. Then, when the Rams draft Sigmund Freud in the first round and I sling my putter across the green in disgust it will make a perfect Verizon highlight moment.

                        Praying for a good draft.

We all have our opinions and likes and dislikes but we all agree on one thing. Can we please just have an excellent draft for a change? No matter who we draft or what direction we go in how about we get lucky and land some diamonds in the rough and have our players turn out to be good ones. I have my thoughts on who id like but if it improves our Rams I really dont care. I cant take too many more 2 win seasons. I had my fill of those in the 80's and early 90's. So please may the football gods shine down upon us and bless our draft with solid football players. Oh and make sure the Whiners,Hags,Cards and Patsies crap out.

The late draft is killing the "experts"
                        by chucknbob
I've noticed a lot of talk on here and other places about picks suddenly rising or falling on draft boards the last couple of weeks, especially with QBs. However, I've heard interviews with GMs and coaches, and every one of them say their draft board is set. In other words, the teams decided who they wanted to draft weeks ago.

My thoughts are that in order for the analysts to keep people listening to them until draft day, they have to keep coming up with something new. All they can do is move guys up and down the boards so they can propose new mock drafts.

I personally don't put any stock in these draft board changes that have happened over the last couple of weeks. I can't imagine anything that has happened between the pro day/workout/combine and now that would sway the thougths of a GM or coach.
