  • How many games won this year?

How many games we win this year? Some would say you have to wait and see what we do in the draft. Some would say to wait for the draft and free agents to be signed. Well for me I see nothing out of the free agents that we got that will help us in anyway win a game any more than the ones we got rid of. And for the draft, how many games are they going to help us win? Point in short we are just about the same exact team with the same coaches. So I think that we will be, if were lucky, 4 and 12. How many games will we win do you guys or gals think? And why.

Re: How many games won this year?

Depends on injuries we sustain. Heck if we sustain little to no injuries at all and have the right QB under center, we could go 6-10 or even 7-9. It's progress and it's way better than going below a 4 win season.

If we can go 5-10 Id be happy with the knowledge that their plan is working. If we dont grab Bradford, all bets are off in my book cuz Suh isnt going to score any touchdowns, well he is Suh so maybe 1 or 2.

Maybe next year our front office will have an actual contingency plan ready when the foundation of their offseason strategy gets shot in the face. Or they will have learned to anticipate such things in a similar manner to the other 31 teams in the league. And then maybe I may feel optimistic once again.

But yeah, the pragmatic rational side of me does think that 4-5 wins is the likely max for this team. Kyle Boller 2.0 (Feeley) won't win anything, and we are still so staggeringly bereft of talent that wins won't come easily once he's gone.

How is it rational to predict anything when you don't even know who the QB will be (not to mention the likelihood that there will be 2-3 other new starters on the team who are not on the roster yet)?

If you want to predict a 4-12 in August, that's fine. But right now, I think its a bit early for any prediction.

I have to agree with the mindset that it's to early to have a predict our record thread. Let's see what happens after the draft. In fact, let's wait until after all the free agency moves at the end of training camp. It's like all the endless mock drafts that are on here since the end of last season. Tedious repetitive prognostication nauseate.

I hate losing and I hate being one of (if not the worst ) team in the NFL, but do we want to win any of the remaining games in the 2008 season?

If we win 1 or 2 games and have a record of 3-13, 4-12 it will probably mean we have 5th pick in the draft. If we dont win another game, we will probably have 2nd pick for the 2nd year running.

The season is long gone and the odd victory in a meaningless game isnt going to do it for me. Its only going to paper over the cracks. We are bad, real bad. Competing in the remaining games would be more beneficial than actually winning games in my opinion.

I would like to see us win but I am not sure winning this year as opposed to losing helps us as much for next year. I think solid football would be nice but winning will drop us further down in the draft. If we lose and get in the top 10 of the draft it gives us a lot of options trade down and get an extra 2nd round pick or select one of the top tier talents in the draft. Plus we also pick higher every round. Winning will help us build a little momentum but the main people that need the winning momentum are on the D and I suspect half of them won’t be here next year.

Controversial Thread: Do you want us to win anymore games?
                                by general counsel
Time for the controversy of the week, a topic that will be discussed heatedly from now to the end of the year.

Question: Do you want the rams to win anymore games?

Before you jump all over me, consider that we are out of the playoffs. There is a material difference in where we pick in the draft IN ALL 7 ROUNDS based on how we finish. We desparately need IMPACT players on defense. Better picks, while no guarantee of course, give you a better shot at better players and a better shot to trade up if there is someone you really want (ie whoever is the top defensive end coming out, i will leave that to nick and the experts).

Just my view, but i couldnt care less about the difference between 8-8 and 5-11. I want to see the rams do well offensively and i want to cheer for our guys, and most importantly, i dont want to see anyone get hurt. However, whether we win or lose from this point on, we wont have a chance to win it all. I am not going to be in a great mood for a week if we beat oakland and then the skins like i would be when we are in the hunt.

I am about trying to win superbowls, not trying to go .500. This year we have no shot of getting to the superbowl. I believe that we have a better shot of getting there next year if we wind up 5-11 then if we wind up 8-8.

One subtle distinction. There is a difference between my point which is that i wont be upset if we lose the last three than saying that i am actively routing against us. At best, i am indifferent, but the reality is that i believe intellectually that we are better off for next year to lose now. Part of that, and i think a critical part, is i dont see any value to having timmerman, glover and some of the other vets in the games. They may be better than the kids but so what? They are not part of the future. I want wroten, bartell etc to get real world game experience. Lets see what we have for next year, or at least get a glimpse. Put richie at guard if that is where he is headed and romberg at center and run the ball more so bulger doesnt get killed.

Training camp and pre season games are very very difficult to evaluate, lets have some baptism by fire for the kids and find out if there is a shot that some of them can contribute. Many on this board have advocated this theory, which i think is really making the same point as me in this thread. Bottom line- we are better off now to play for the future and the future of this team is better served with the kids on the field and better draft picks in april 2007.

Lets have a debate on this, should be a good one.

It is very sad to say. But there a a great possibility that we lose every game. Now I know Hope super-cedes logic. We all want a win so bad that we think every week we have a good chance. Thats just not reality. I just wonder what we will do with a number 1 pick.

Also this offense is by far the worst in the last 10 years. The defense could use alot of improvement as well but they are the ones who are even keeping us in the game.
