  • Martz Made The Right Call...

in going for the FG with 13 seconds left instead of running one more play. I wanted to shoot the commentators when they were saying that Martz should run one more play and go for the endzone. With no timeouts left all it takes is a bad snap/exchange, a sack, a receiver falling down, etc and we are toast.

It's good to see Martz have the balls to make the right decision in kicking the field goal after he got roasted for kicking the field goal in a different situation last year against the panthers.

    what do you guys think?

I agree 100% with you, tanus. Right call completely.

I agree. But only because we didn't have any timeouts in case of a sack or a completion in-bounds.

Without a doubt, Martz made the right decision. Anything else would have been foolish. While the announce team was talking about taking another shot, I was thinking about last year's whiner game.

            Martz made the right call.

I could not believe the Fox commentators. They were so biased in their commentary. I argued with them most the game and had to mute them out again. hehehe... I have the power of the remote.

True, the win makes the decision right, but I also agree that this was the right call. I was down on Martz in the playoffs last year when he let time run down and kicked the field goal for the tie, but this time it seemed like the right thing to do.

It's not the power of the remote that would concern me, it's talking to your TV set ...

As to the call, timing is everything and he didn't have the time or TO to go for the endzone here. And speaking of calls, I'm surprised he didn't try an onside kick after the Curtis TD ... not what I expected. Which leads me to say that Seattle has to take the bone-headed play of the week award ... by opting not to run the clock down with 3 straight runs and rather passing on 1st down with the Rams out of TOs.

well, they also could have kicked the FG then Seattle run it back on the kickoff. But, it's better to be safe than sorry. It was by far the right decision and a right call.

It was absolutely the right call. The only way you run a play there is if you throw it into the endzone. But any mistake - a sack, a muffed snap, a catch on the one yard line - and the game's over.

Clearly, a FG was the right call.

Don't worry adarian, there are many things that I do that would "concern" you and perhaps I should be concerned, but since it entertains me, I will continue to talk to or yell at the tv. yes sir...it's fun.

                                Oh, wait...

                                Mike Martz isn't coaching today.

Can you imagine if he had called that play, though? It would be the subject of national scorn and ridicule.

Let's hope it doesn't end up being the difference in the game.

Mike Martz again puts the rams in position to lose. instead of continuing to run the ball down the raiders throats Mike Martz calls a putrid reverse that sent the Rams backwards to a second and 17. then after a modest gain he runs the ball up the gut on 3rd and long. is this idiot ever going to stop pulling these idioc stunts? This is exactly what I am talking about when I say we are at a disadvantage at parity. We may have as good of talent as there is in the league but our coach always seems to do something stupid to assure us of a loss. AM I WRONG HERE?

Look at this crap. I am not sure about this guy some days

                                From NFL.com newswire:

Rams coach Mike Martz said he thought his team trailed by only three points in the waning seconds, so he called for a sideline pattern with 9 seconds left to set up a field goal, instead of going for the end zone on the next-to-last play of the game.

"I can't believe I was yelling for a field goal," he said. "That was the dumbest thing I've ever done as a football coach."

Martz thought he saw Oakland bobble the ball on the point after and thought the Raiders missed it.

"Smoker yelled at me, 'Hey, coach, we're down by four!"' Martz said. "Can you imagine Jeff Smoker telling me what the score was?"

Martz Can't Control Kids After Using Last Timeout
                                by evil disco man
                                Timeout

A simple trip to the grocery store for Mike Martz and his family turned into complete chaos on Tuesday when the Rams head coach ran out of timeouts. Known for his poor in-game decisions, Martz’s early use of timeouts allowed Chris, David, Tim, and Emily Martz to run wild in the Schnuck’s on Walnut Avenue. The coach wasted his first timeout when David and Tim got into a shoving match while putting on their shoes before departing. “I had to call a timeout just to calm the kids down and get them to the car,” said Martz. The family was less than two minutes away from Schnuck’s when Martz burned his second timeout. Emily was issued a timeout for excessive hair pulling after David’s knee crept into her area of the back seat. The third stoppage, however, has been criticized the most. Martz needlessly challenged his wife Julie’s choice of parking spots, saying it was too far away from the door. The call was upheld, costing Martz his third and final timeout and leaving him with no way of controlling his kids once they got inside the store. Martz’s wife, Julie, said this is not the first time something like this has happened. Aside from his blatant disregard for the timeout process, she described his horrendous clock management skills and his questionable decision-making. “Timmy was two hours early for soccer practice on Monday, Emily was an hour late to swimming, and Mike woke up Chris at four a.m. on Tuesday for no reason,” Julie explained. “And don’t get me started on his last-minute decision to take the kids to ‘Closer’ instead of ‘Fat Albert.’ He completely blew that call.”
