I would of prefered Clausen who could come in and play right away, but I'll back Bradford here. Let's hope we upgrade our offensive line to protect this guy and some receivers that can get open.

I'm excited, I've always rooted for this guy and always dreamed about that guy being on the Rams. Now it's a reality and I don't think we'll be disappointed.

At first after the season was over I wanted Suh but the more I have heard about Bradford I could see going that way.
I'm excited to watch him play, I just hope we strenthen our O-line to protect him because like it or not he's our franchise now.

I was a Suh guy, but I guess I'm ok w/ it. Not like we have a choice, huh? Still have TOTAL faith in DeSpags.
If a team won their division seven straight times, that would be a NFL record. Now add on that team did it with seven different QB's in seven straight years, that record is unbeatable. To do that feat, you must of had a great Defense. Jack Youngblood was the captain of that defense.

Bradford was the right choice, now we got to get him some weapons, later in this draft like a nice tight end or another playmaker wideout

We couldn't go wrong with either Bradford or Suh. It turned out to be Bradford and I think its something to be excited about. We now have the face of our franchise. We needed a QB and we got the consensus pick as the best one in the nation. I like it!

We'll have to see what Bradford does. I can't say I wanted this pick but Bradford is now a Rams.

I'm not digging it honestly. But he IS a Ram now. Better learn to support him!

                              LETS GO BRADFORD AND RAMS!

Scott Wright: Rams pick QB Sam Bradford #1
                                by viper
I came across Scott Wright's mock draft dated 12/17/09. He has the Rams picking Sam Bradford, QB from Oklahoma as the no. 1 pick in the draft. He also has Terrance Cody, DT, Alabama going no. 21 to the Miami Dolphins.

Is this old news? Has he updated his mock since then? I'm quite suprised by those two picks in particular. I found it here: draftcountdown.com/sub/Mock-Draft-A.php

What do you guys think about us taking Bradford with the 1st pick?

1 ST. LOUIS RAMS: SAM BRADFORD, QB, OKLAHOMA

Washington’s Jake Locker would have been the slam-dunk pick for St. Louis but he is going back for his senior year, which complicates things for the Rams. Do they just move to the next best quarterback and take either Sam Bradford from Oklahoma or Jimmy Clausen from Notre Dame or do they try to address their defense with Nebraska’s Ndamukong Suh? Steve Spagnuolo is a defensive-minded coach who loves to put pressure on the quarterback and right now the Rams don’t have any difference-makers up front so Suh would make a lot of sense. However, everything revolves around the quarterback position and the Rams just can’t afford to pass on a potential franchise signal caller. The Bradford / Clausen debate will likely go down to the wire but in the end I think Bradford gets the nod due to his superior intangibles. Bradford might have been the #1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft but he opted to spend another year in college. Unfortunately that didn’t work out as planned and he wound up missing most of the season with an injury to his throwing shoulder, which required surgery. Despite the questions about his health / durability and concerns about the spread system he played in with the Sooners it looks as though Bradford is still in line to be a Top 10 pick as long as there are no red flags in the medical checkups. Even though Bradford doesn’t have a cannon for an arm he possesses good size, is an extraordinarily accurate passer with a quick release and also extremely smart. Much like Atlanta fans who were clamoring for Glenn Dorsey over Matt Ryan there will surely be those who want the Rams to go with Suh. St. Louis will entertain that thought but at the end of the day they have to pull the trigger on a quarterback.

Rich Gannon on Sam Bradford to RAMS.
                                by laram0
Heard this today on Sirius NFL Blitz talk show.

Gannon: The RAMS have to many glaring holes to bring Bradford in and start him right away. O-line, TE and WR positions are lacking. Bradford's confidence would also be in jeopardy because he would take a beating running the RAMS offense.

St. Louis Rams told Sam Bradford they wouldn't draft a QB
                                by ZiaRam
If there were every any doubts that the St. Louis Rams are committed to Sam Bradford as their starting quarterback, Bradford put them to rest Tuesday when he revealed that the team made it clear that it would not be selecting a quarterback in the 2012 NFL Draft.

"Pretty much from the beginning, they told me that I was their guy and that I had no reason to worry about them taking a quarterback in this draft," Bradford told NFL Network on Tuesday.

The Cleveland Browns had reportedly inquired about trading with the Rams for Bradford in March, but Rams coach Jeff Fisher publicly said the team was not interested in shipping the two-year veteran. Before the Rams traded the second overall pick to the Washington Redskins, some, like NFL Network analyst Charley Casserly, even speculated that St. Louis might elect to use that pick to draft a new quarterback, like Robert Griffin III.

But the Rams and Fisher elected to stay the course with Bradford, the first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Bradford said that he's noticed a definite positive change with Fisher, who was hired in the offseason after amassing a 142-120 record in 16 full seasons as head coach of the Tennessee Titans and Houston Oilers, taking over.

"Coach 'Fish' has been great," Bradford said. "I think everyone in our locker room really respects him and what he's been able to do in his time in the league.

"We're all behind him, and I can't wait to get out there and play for him."

Bradford impressed in his rookie year, throwing for 3,512 yards and 18 touchdowns, before struggling in 2011. He had trouble staying healthy, starting just 10 games and throwing for just six touchdowns (and having six passes picked off), while the Rams went 1-9 with him under center.

"I think obviously it was a rough year," Bradford said. "It was a tough year, mentally and physically. But I think I learned a lot, you know, about myself, about what it takes to win in this league, and just how hard it is. I'm going to try to use everything I learned last year in a way to help us win games this year."

Since 1998, twelve QBs have been selected with the first pick in the draft. Here is how they currently rank in 2012 passer rating:

                                1. Peyton Manning (1998): 108.0
                                2. Alex Smith (2005): 104.1
                                3. Carson Palmer (2003): 86.8
                                4. Matthew Stafford (2009): 85.4
                                5. Sam Bradford (2010): 85.3
                                6. Eli Manning (2004): 81.8
                                7. Michael Vick (2001): 79.2
                                8. Andrew Luck (2012): 79.1
                                9. Cam Newton (2011): 77.2
                                10. David Carr (2002): 56.2 (two pass attempts as Giants' No. 2 QB)
                                11. Tim Couch (1999) - out of NFL
                                12. JaMarcus Russell (2007) - out of NFL

                                Draw your own conclusions.
