  • ClanRam Fact or Fiction: Week Eight

I'm posting this here to try and get more looks after only getting three replies last week (but good replies at that!)....

    1) The Seattle Seahawks will not make the playoffs.

    2) The Pittsburgh Steelers will end the Patriots' unbeaten streak.

    3) Ray Lewis will lay out a huge hit on Terrell Owens in this week's Ravens/Eagles game.

    4) Tiki Barber is the best running back in the NFC.

    5) Ben Roethlisberger has surpassed Roy Williams in the race for Rookie of the Year.

    6) The acquisition of Corey Dillon and his performance thus far in the season makes the New England Patriots the most complete team in the league.

    7) The Miami Dolphins will win more than four games this season.

Feel free to add your own.

Re: ClanRam Fact or Fiction: Week Eight

    1. Fact - They'll come close, but they are too streaky and Hasselbeck is not the stellar QB the Seahawks think he is.

    2. Fiction - It's very possible, but I don't think it'll happen. I think it'll be a few more weeks before they falter.

    3. Fact - And I'm praying it happens.

    4. FICTION - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

    5. Fact - I'll give Big Ben the nod, but it's very tight. QB's always get the inside track for that type of award. Although, I believe they have separated it into AFC and NFC awards.

    6. Fact - It obviously hasn't hurt them.

    7. Fiction - 2, maybe 3 wins, but that's it.

Re: ClanRam Fact or Fiction: Week Eight

      1. Fiction - They are still a top team and will finish 10-6 getting a wild-card berth behind the 10-6 Rams in the west.
      2. Fiction - Big Ben is having a great rookie year, but he's not ready for the Pats yet.
      3. Fact - Hopefully, that hit will knock both of them of the game.
      4. Fact - Right now, he is the best in the NFC. And all he had to was hold the ball a little higher.
      5. Fact - Anytime a rookie QB can win, he has to be a frontrunner for ROY.
      6. Fact - And their record would agree.
      7. Fiction - I can't see this team going 4-5 or better this season. Regardless of how the Rams made them appear, Morris and Fiedler aren't that good.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

        1) The Seattle Seahawks will not make the playoffs.
Fact. I think the Rams will win the division with a 10-6 record and be the only West team to make the playoffs.

        2) The Pittsburgh Steelers will end the Patriots' unbeaten streak.
Fiction. Their pass defense will be exploited.

        3) Ray Lewis will lay out a huge hit on Terrell Owens in this week's Ravens/Eagles game.
Fiction. The Eagles won't run TO over the middle.

        4) Tiki Barber is the best running back in the NFC.
Fiction. He's having a great season, but I'm not ready to put him at the top yet.

        5) Ben Roethlisberger has surpassed Roy Williams in the race for Rookie of the Year.
Fact. And he'll stay there till the end.

        6) The acquisition of Corey Dillon and his performance thus far in the season makes the New England Patriots the most complete team in the league.
Fact. Though I still don't think they will win it all.

        7) The Miami Dolphins will win more than four games this season.
        Fact. They'll win 5.

          1) The Seattle Seahawks will not make the playoffs.
Fact: We're the only one's who can stop them from making the playoffs, and who are we (see Miami game)?

          2) The Pittsburgh Steelers will end the Patriots' unbeaten streak.
Fiction: At least I hope not. My lack of confidence in this team aside, the Rams, not the Steelers, will step up at home to SPANK the Pats undefeated streak. It may be the highlight of our year.

          3) Ray Lewis will lay out a huge hit on Terrell Owens in this week's Ravens/Eagles game.
          Faction: who cares.

          4) Tiki Barber is the best running back in the NFC.
Fact: There's no one else to challenge him is all. He'd be 4th or 5th in the AFC. (Steven Jackson will take over #1 in the NFC next year.)

          5) Ben Roethlisberger has surpassed Roy Williams in the race for Rookie of the Year.
          Fact. Yep.

          6) The acquisition of Corey Dillon and his performance thus far in the season makes the New England Patriots the most complete team in the league.
Fact: They already were the most compelete team, and now they are completer.

          7) The Miami Dolphins will win more than four games this season.
Fiction: Unless I missed something, they don't play the rams 4 more times this year.

            1) The Seattle Seahawks will not make the playoffs.

FACT - The Rams will take the division and the Seahawks record won't be good enough to clinch the Wild Card

            2) The Pittsburgh Steelers will end the Patriots' unbeaten streak.

FACT - The Steelers are rolling right now and coming off a bye, the Patriots finally meet their match.

            3) Ray Lewis will lay out a huge hit on Terrell Owens in this week's Ravens/Eagles game.

FICTION - The Eagles won't send T.O. over the middle. Ed Reed on the other hand...

            4) Tiki Barber is the best running back in the NFC.

FICTION - Absolutely not. I'd rather have Faulk, Alexander, Green, Portis, T.Jones etc.

            5) Ben Roethlisberger has surpassed Roy Williams in the race for Rookie of the Year.

FACT - QB gets the edge here. He'll earn even more hype after knocking of the Patriots next week.

            6) The acquisition of Corey Dillon and his performance thus far in the season makes the New England Patriots the most complete team in the league.

FACT - They are stacked, but not unbeatable.

            7) The Miami Dolphins will win more than four games this season.

FACT - The way this season's going they could even see the playoffs. Then again, maybe not.

May as well throw my answers in...

              1) The Seattle Seahawks will not make the playoffs.

FICTION. I think they'll be good enough for a wild card spot at the worst.

              2) The Pittsburgh Steelers will end the Patriots' unbeaten streak.

FACT. Pittsburgh's rolling, so who else? It needs to come to an end so we can all stop hearing about it.

              3) Ray Lewis will lay out a huge hit on Terrell Owens in this week's Ravens/Eagles game.

FICTION. I don't think TO will allow himself to be put in a position to be made to look bad against Baltimore.

              4) Tiki Barber is the best running back in the NFC.

FICTION. Most productive this season, probably. Best, not quite.

              5) Ben Roethlisberger has surpassed Roy Williams in the race for Rookie of the Year.

FICTION. I think Ben's bye week put him behind Roy, but that could all change against the Pats.

              6) The acquisition of Corey Dillon and his performance thus far in the season makes the New England Patriots the most complete team in the league.

FACT. Good ground game, good passing game, good defense. Looks to be all there.

              7) The Miami Dolphins will win more than four games this season.

FICTION. I see them winning three or four max.

                  1) Fiction: 2 wild card spots up for grabs and if the Rams continue to play like they did on Sunday, a chance for a division title.

                  2) Fiction

                  3) Fact: And I certainly hope so.

                  4) Fiction

                  5) Fact: and its a close race.

                  6) Fiction: Their coach makes them the most complete team in the league. But Dillion hasn't hurt them.

                  7) Fiction: They will win only four games

"The NFC West is raising eyebrows as it has a good shot at sending a sub-.500 team to the NFL playoffs. Should losers get to advance?"

These captions are repeatedly brought to our attention and personally offensive to me because the Rams are in the NFC West. Nobody is talking about the Colts who were 6-6 like the Rams and Seahawks. Yet phone lines are tied up with people making out scenarios with them winning out and making the wildcards. If the NFC West is mentioned comments of how they should be banned from the playoffs until they prove they can be a consistently winning division or even dissolving it into a 2 division conference. Whaaaa????

I know we won 3 games in like how many years??? but now as rebuilding process is seen and improvement on the horizon this...

There is only one solution to this problem... WE MUST WIN OUT! With Rams winning the division 10-6, 9-7 people would then be forced to retract their blasphemy! :frown:

Lets put the win in perspective, what happens next
                    by Guest
What does this win mean? It means we are right in the hunt for the nfc west title and still have a real shot to have an elite season. We now have a huge tiebreaker advantage against seattle, and if we can beat them at home, we in effect have an enormous benefit as we will win the west in the event of a tie. Its also a division win, which i believe helps conference record and tiebreaker wise for both home field and other playoff positioning.

Its not just the huge road win against a quality team, its how we came back and won. There is no quit in this team and we will only continue to improve if we can stay healthy.

At this point, the real key is not to rest on our laurels, but to be able to carry the fourth quarter and OT performance into the next two games, tampa at home and miami on the road, two games that we have to win. 5-2 at the break is very competitive. I would absolutely hate to see us give it back with a subpar performance that leads to a loss against the two inferior teams coming up.

The new orleans loss eliminates any margain for error at this point, given the tough games ahead. We cant afford to lose any more games to teams that we are better than, for 100% sure at home, if we want a shot at home field through the playoffs.

Good health, better defense, and continued improvement by the offense and we are still a 12-4 team, maybe even 13-3 if we get a break.

Can you imagine the odds of winning in seattle with a minus three turnover ratio? We really need to do a better job pressuring the passer, tackling and creating turnovers, but for tonight, lets enjoy one of the greatest comebacks in rams history.

                    ramming speed to all

The Rams will play in the NFC Championship Game this year (2018).
                    by AvengerRam
On June 27, 2017, I predicted here at ClanRam that the Rams would go 10-6 and win the NFC West in the 2017 season (look it up!).

I'm ready to go out on a limb again.

I'm predicting that the Rams will make the NFC Championship Game this year.

To be clear, I'm not saying that the Rams will lose that game....I'm just limiting my prediction to that level. After that, its 1-2 games of "any given Sunday."

To get there, I think three things will happen:

                    1. The Rams will win 12+ regular season games;
                    2. The Rams will again win the NFC West; and
                    3. The Rams will have a first round bye and host a game in the divisional round.

I'd say the most likely opponents for the Rams in the NFC Championship are (1) Philadelphia; (2) Minnesota; (3) New Orleans, and (4) Atlanta.

If the Rams make the Super Bowl, I'm going with the following most likely opponents (may be a surprise): (1) Jacksonville, (2) New England, (3) Pittsburgh and (4) Houston.

Looking forward to a great year of Rams football!...

To win division in 2011, Rams must survive... then thrive.
                    by AvengerRam_old
Looking at the Rams' 2011 schedule standing alone, one might use the word "brutal." However, aside from the tough matchups (which all four NFC West teams will have to face this year), ther is another notable feature to the Rams' schedule.

It is extremely unevenly weighted. The Rams' first eight games are far tougher (based on 2010 results) than their final eight games.

So how does that compare to the rest of the West? The answer to that is intriguing.

NFC West Strengths of Schedule/First 8 Games

                    Rams: 70-54 (.547)
                    Seahawks: 63-65 (.492)
                    Cardinals: 62-66(.484)
                    Niners: 53-73 (.414)

NFC West Strengths of Schedule/Final 8 Games

                    Niners: 65-63 (.508)
                    Seahawks: 64-64 (.500)
                    Rams: 52-76 (.406)
                    Cardinals: 51-79 (.398)

Add to this the fact that the Rams play all six division games in weeks 9 through 17, and the blueprint for winning the division becomes clear: survive... then thrive.

If the Rams are only able to win 3 games in the first half of the season, they will still be in position to win their division. If they can go 4-4, I'd make them the favorite to win the West.
