Re: What do we think?
I voted no, but my real answer is it's too early to tell. I think it's going to come down to how we play against our division. If we don't play competively against the niners and win one each against the cards and seahawks, then there's no way he stays. -
Re: What do we think?
Not arguing for or against, but I think the ultimate is "yes", he will be gone.
Yes, the schedule has been tough....
Yes, the injuries have been severe....
No, those facts will not be enough to overcome a lackluster 16 games....
No, that may not be fair at all....
Yes, there is still time to change his fate.....
Starting today, he needs to consider this year a 10-game season. And I'm guessing it will take 7-3, maybe 6-4, to still be here next year. The more things change, the more they stay the same.Comment

Re: What do we think?
The thing about the whole deal is this: you can talk all you want about bad/regressing O-line play, poor defense particularly against the run, and stupid penalties and dropped passes, but at the end of the day, YOU AS THE HC have to find a way, some way, some how, to overcome this, recognize your shortcomings, and win a frickin game or two. There is just no excuse; a winning coach would have won a game or two by now DESPITE the horrid circumstances.
In lieu of all of this, I SAY he does not stay. The reason being is because the owner, team, and city is tired of the losing and NOT BEING IN THE LEAST, COMPETITIVE. In all fairness, I think he deserves a full offseason, and then go from there, but something in the back of my mind doesn't even remotely want to give him that....
I just wouldn't know WHAT to do if I WERE the owner...Last edited by rNemesis; -10-27-2011, 01:06 PM.Comment

Re: What do we think?
If things keep going like they have for the Rams, which all signs point to it will, and the Rams finish 1-15 or 2-14, Stan would have to make a change to show the fanbase he actually cares about this team winning.

Re: What do we think?
I voted yes he will be fired. It's not what I want to see happen but let's face it he's not doing a very good job.
A couple of examples I look at are the Colts and Dolphins. Sure they're both winless but at least they have been in some of the games they have lost. At least the players look like they are trying and give a damn. They have also had their share of injuries and many excuses can be made for all the losses. But they're still giving the effort. Like I said though at least some of their games have been interesting.
I'm still miffed that we lost to the overrated Redskins at home.
I'm sure we will lose this Sunday to the Saints...but how will we lose that's the question? If we get embarrassed again it's just another nail in Spags coffin, excuses or not.
Then we go to Arizona, forget about if we get embarrassed or not. If we lose Spags is pretty much done in my book.
Spags has a very tall mountain to climb and it better start sooner than later. Like beating the Cardinals twice, the Seahawks at least once, beating the Browns and the Bengals. Anything short of that he's dead meat as far as I'm concerned.

Re: What do we think?
lI voted No only because it really too early to tell. You'll need a full season to determine the outcome. My instincts tell me if Stan can persuade Jeff Fisher to come in he'll boot Spags in a heartbeat. Unfortunately we're learning Spags is one of those people better suited to be a DC than a HC. Josh McD found that out in Denver, although as an OC he's not showing us much either. My guess if Spags survives is that there will wholesale coaching staff changes, appropriately so. The other point about Spags that concerns me is his talent evaluation. What was he seeing in some of our draft picks that appealed to him. What hurt most about DeMarco Murray's performance was that I wanted to draft him in the middle rounds and we took 2 wides who are marginal at best. I hope the picture changes quickly.
Go Rams!Comment

Re: What do we think?
If the team continues to get blown out and look completely inept, I don't think Kroenke will have much of a choice but to let Spags go. At the very least, he's got to find a way to get his players to show some fight, be competitive, and win some games. Anything short of that and it's 3 and out. Kind of like our offense.........Comment

Re: What do we think?
I never ever even considered having to lose spags this year. I was full of excitement and wonderment foer the year. Yes, injuries have been a major hindrance BUT really, there is little to no spark left in Rams. The weekly beat downs are starting to take toll across board. Sadly, IMO, time to move on and get new leadership to right this ship. As the HC, you need to do something to put better product the field.
and, i agree, ity would be good to see our owner but it appears he is not a visible owner although there is a big difference between meddling and showing up.Comment

Re: What do we think?
no, I doubt it.....I think we are gonna win 4 games at least in the 2nd half of the season, and people will see some big games from Bradford to Lloyd and McDaniels will gain some accolades., and people will be talking that all we need is another Wide reciever in the Draft and some young legs in the backfield postion...
The Cardinals are worse off ., and I think we will beat them 2 times....and even if we lose all the rest, Bradford may put all some big numbersComment

Re: What do we think?
If we are looking at 0-13, 0-14, I think he may be fired and someone else steps up (probably McDaniels) for the rest of the year.
However, I don't think we are going to be in that shape. I think somewhere along the way we are going to beat a team like Arizona (here in two weeks), the Bengals, Hawks, and pick up a few wins; possibly finish the last 8 games of the year 4-4 or so. In that case I think Spags is safe, but his seat will be very warm in 2012.
So I'm going with no for now, but that could change in a few short weeks if we don't see improvement.Comment

Re: What do we think?
They say the schedule gets easier in the second half, but the Rams would be lucky to give Stanford a good game right now.
In other words if we don't improve drastically, in a rather rapid fashion, it won't matter who we play in the second half, and then you can certainly bid adeu to Spags and company.Comment

Re: What do we think?
If I had to guess right now, I'd say yes. I'm not sure if it's the right decision--I want to believe we could turn it around in one more year--but there aren't many owners that have the patience for a 6 or 7 game losing streak to start the season. A tough schedule is trial by fire, and what we've been seeing is that this team really wasn't as competitive as we expected it to be. Now if we win 5 of the last 9 games of the season (I don't think losing to New Orleans will hurt him anymore than the last six losses already have), I think he could buy himself another year...but at this point, I'm not real optimistic that we can sled through the easy part of the schedule winning more than half our games.Comment

Re: What do we think?
I am finding it increasingly difficult to show Spags some love.! I had never been blown away by Spags at all, in his first two years as coach. But it did seem like he had a good vision for his team, and seemingly was an upgrade over some of the recently sacked coach's.? I would always give him the benefit of the doubt, because of his limited experience, and expected him to improve his game slowly, as a coach.?
After the way the D brought good pressure for most weeks last season, and the way they have performed this season with added talent brought in, tells me they could'nt have done a worse job if they tried.? Teams with good coach's, and that are well run do not regress in the manner of this years team. The teams seems to be going from bad to worse in record time, you cannot blame the injuries for such a decline.
How things have changed in the matter of less than two month's.????????????
Im just glad the Rams drafted Sam Bradford, thats all Im saying.>>> TOP MAN!!!!
