  • Which "mark it as a loss" game are the Rams most likely to win this year?

When we look at the schedule, there are some games that we think the Rams should win, some games that are more of a toss-up, and some that most would expect the Rams to lose.

Nonetheless, history tells us that there are often upsets. Last year it was the Saints. The year before, the Chargers.

So which of the "unwinnable" games do you think could be the most likely "upset special" this year?

Week 1: @ Detroit, by week seven the Rams will already be the team to beat in the west, so we will not be shocking everyone by week seven!

I went with Week 1 against the Lions.

        My reasoning:

        1. Element of surprise.
        2. Jeff Fisher going up against former assistant.
        3. Lions' run defense vulnerable (allowed 5.0 ypc last year).

I think Detroit. Plus it would be nice to start off 1-0 for the first time in a long time that I can remember

I went with the SF game. I think they are a bit overrated and overconfident. And, sure wishful thinking, I'd love to witness the upset in NorCal...........something sweet in that.

Thats the game I think we go "full gorilla" (if you watch stl cardinals games you know what im talking about lol) .

Btw it was 2006 last time they won a opener 18-10 over the broncos at EJD.

I went with the Whiner game. Why?
                    • Divisional game. Strange things happen in inter-divisional games.
                    • Later in the season. I believe that due to the youth and new systems of the Rams, they'll get better (barring injuries) as the season progresses.
                    • I think the Whiners are a bit overrated and their QB situation is tenuous, at best. If Smith goes down, their backup QB is no where near ready for the NFL. The Rams on the other hand, with Clemons at QB, almost came back to beat this team late last year. IT can be done. Who better to do it against?

Let's face it though, the Rams will probably be underdogs in about every game they play this year, with possibly the exception of the Cards at home. So in reality, any win in most every game they play can be called a "mark it as a loss" game. Shoot, I would be really surprised if the Rams didn't open as 10 point (or worse) dogs to the Lions.

Lions because their team is falling apart with recent arrests. Fisher has familiarity with Schwartz plus the team has no discipline so if we were to beat them, it would be because we outcoached them.

                        Lions.

Missing for 1st game:CB Aaron Berry, RB Jahvid Best, RB Mikel LeShoure, DB Drew Coleman, RB Jerome Harrison
Potentially Missing: FS Louis Delmas, DT Nick Fairley, RB Stefan Logan

Thats a ton of starters and players. They will have NO chance at a run game with our improved run stop and their injury situation, so we can expect a lot of Stafford. I think Janoris Jenkins can EASILY handle Nate Burleson or Titus Young. Finnegan will handle Megatron, especially on 3rd downs when they both slide to slot, and Jenkins and Fletcher or whoever else plays #3 can cover Burleson and Young.

The Rams front four, can pin their ears back and get after Mr Stafford. But can the Rams OL keep that vicious Detroit front four away from Sam Bradford. Interesting matchup indeed.

Some good points. I'm not sure about Finnegan covering Megatron though. However, I could see him getting under his skin enough to get him off his game.
