  • Nick and Coady

Hey Nick, I think I speak for everyone when I ask you to remove your flailing Coady signature pic. I don't happen to hate Coady and actually appreciate the effort he's put forth. He's obviously not a great player but he's giving 100% and I can't fault him for that.

He should strictly be a special teams guy but is doing what he can due to injuries throughout the secondary. He's not over priced and doesn't cause any problems in the locker room or the press.

I seem to remember you saying something about defending ANY Ram player if they were being bad mouthed so I leave it to you to stand by your convictions and remove the pic.

Singling out Coady is just rude to me especially when you consider that he's playing safety and having to try and make tackles on rb's, wr's and te's that are running freely through the rest of the defense. If the d-line, lb's, or cornerbacks could at least slow down some of these guys maybe Coady wouldn't be on such an island all the time.

Then you aren't remembering what I said correctly, or perhaps I didn't properly illustrate my point, which was that if any Ram player, in my opinion, was being unfairly criticized, then I would defend said player. I've seen Coady make many bad plays this season, and feel that criticism of him is legit and fair. I'm not the only one who feels this way, as I've seen many posts here and elsewhere that has shared that sentiment of Coady. I'd say criticism of him is perhaps more fair than, say, criticizing Little for not being able to break through double teams on the defensive line. Just an example.

It's interesting, though, how people can start as many threads as they want discussing how terrible of a head coach Martz is and how poor our defense is with no objection from you - heck, you've even posted in if not made some of those threads - yet you think I'm the one who needs a public thread dedicated to chastising me for my signature, which in my opinion, seems more rude than my supposed singling out of Coady in the first place.

Would a PM not have worked just as well, mok? Or was there some kind of need to scold me publicly for this, I wonder? Also interesting is that you don't suggest I remove the picture of Bulger being sacked as my avatar. Is Bulger not giving 100%? Is he not doing what he can despite injuries to the offensive line? Is he causing problems in the locker room or the press? Then why not mention him as well?

I digress, though. I'm not sure if you noticed or not, but I'm working on a system here. Instead of the standard sig images that used to last weeks at a time, I'm somewhat charting this team's performances with images. Rams win, they get a good picture. Rams lose, they get a not so flattering one. I would think someone like you would appreciate that kind of balance, but I suppose that's not the case. Or maybe it is, and you just did not realize what I was doing. I guess we'll find out.

The picture will be removed after the Rams/Whiners game, when I'll hopefully have another - good or bad - to take its place.

Is this a joke? You insult Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt in the game day chat room, and you "appreciate the effort" of Rich "I'm Afraid to Tackle Anything" Coady?

      Can someone say two-faced?

No, not at all. Coady is blessed with heart and nothing else. Bruce and Holt have ALL the talent on earth. When Coady doesn't produce, it's no surprise. He's not a high priced free agent, high draft choice, hell, he's not even a starter! He's just a guy "trying" to keep up with the speed of the NFL. When Tory "I disappear during big games" Holt and Issac "14 points for Green Bay" Bruce stink it up it's a lot different. Am I saying get rid of them or put them on the bench? No, but when they have bad games they deserve criticism.
which was that if any Ram player, in my opinion, was being unfairly criticized, then I would defend said player.
A week long, humiliating photo is "justified"? I haven't seen any signature pic's of Bulger's 4 interception games, Martz's myriad of bone-headed moves or Bruce's 2 Green Bay touchdown's last week.
I'd say criticism of him is perhaps more fair than, say, criticizing Little for not being able to break through double teams on the defensive line. Just an example.
Please show me where I criticized Little. Moving him to a more prominent position on the defense to utilize his incredible athletic ability and speed. Yeah, I'm ripping him a new one.
yet you think I'm the one who needs a public thread dedicated to chastising me for my signature,
"Chastising"? I'm sorry, I thought I was pointing out why Coady may not deserve the glossy photo effigy. I thought that would be a little more appreciated than just telling you to take it down(you know, like other posters have done and you didn't take any offense to at all).
Or was there some kind of need to scold me publicly for this, I wonder?
You sure are acting like you've been caught at doing something wrong. I was disagreeing. That's all. No personal attacks can be found.

That's fine but I don't find it consistent with a guy that's been so vocal about negative posters on this board. If you've had a change of heart so be it. As negative as I'm perceived to be sometimes even I don't want to visually relive a bad loss for the whole week. I would rather see a nice, large photo of Curtis making a good catch.

Back to the original intent of my thread. I agree that Coady isn't that good. But I don't agree with all the posters who are so focused on his deficiencies as the problem with the defense. Four guys on the d-line, three linebackers and a cornerback or two got beat before Coady was responsible for saving the play.

            Mr. Pot, aka Mok,

Maybe try hanging in the Hollow if Adarian will let you, as your smoke either is of poor quality except it does reflect a poor memory or maybe you should try some so you can see things in a more realistic manner.

You obviously speak for very few, although you have a deep grasp for the game's mechanics you are blinded by the truth in SOME situations which is unfortunate but your sincere passion for the game and sometimes the RAMS (if Bulger was not here) is unchallenged.

Your continually negative signature towards Bulger shows exactly how mature you are and the ability you exemplify for moving on is perfectly illustrated. Now that your beloved KW has moved on and has been benched, these untimely events (in some people's minds :disappoin) has saturated your sourness.

Maybe you should try leading by example, and if you had better vision since your head is continually occupied in a very dark place, then you would notice like the casual observer that I am, that Mr. Seiler has changed his sig pic constantly and consistently during this season, which this time makes your comments glaringly ignorant.

To show that I have some kerry in me too, I still think you remain a very deep and intellectual football and RAMS fan, but your inability to communicate effectively because of your moods and rants, inhibits your intelligence :disappoin

            I remain,

            very truly yours,

            FLO

I know we/the clan should all be on the same page for a hoped victory this pm vs. the whiners.

So what's your point? People are welcome to use whatever sig picture they want, so long as it's allowed by the mods. If someone wants to use a sig pic of Bulger's four interception game, they're welcome to - I might not like it, but I certainly can't tell them to remove it, nor would I, because that's not my job.

On a related point, when did you suddenly get so uptight about signatures, mok? You sure didn't seem to care about putting people in a bad light when you had that unflattering Bulger quote in your own sig for quite a long time. :bored:

That's a criticism - please note, I never said you were ripping him a new one, those were your words not mine - and I think criticism of Coady for whiffing on a lot of big plays and open field tackles is a bit more fair than criticizing Little for not being able to physically get by two big lineman to make a play in the backfield mere seconds after the ball is snapped.

Other posters? I've seen one person ask me to take it down. If there have been others, I haven't seen them. And until a mod requests that it be removed, then I'll keep it in my sig until the next Rams game, at which point it will be replaced. If it upsets people, good. We should be upset at the play of some of our players.

You did more than just disagree, mok. The fact that you brought this to a public forum instead of a private PM makes me feel like I'm being attacked. If you had a legitimate concern with my signature, there's absolutely no reason to voice it in a public forum over a private message.

You've yet to respond to my original post as to why a PM wouldn't have worked just as well, and we both know why you haven't - because there's no reason why a PM wouldn't have accomplished the same task... unless, of course, your goal was to make it a public criticism.

So would I. Hopefully Curtis does that this weekend so I can replace my current pic with a good one. But it all depends on the Rams now, doesn't it?

As I said, and as you didn't say one word about in your response interestingly enough, a PM would have worked just as well. Your pulling this into the public forum makes your intentions perfectly clear and rather pathetic.

                  Just want to vent
                  by iStillBelieve
So before I start I should say that I hate this board. I joined last year and after a few months couldn't stand it. For some reason the people on this board don't understand irony or sarcasm in any way. And once they form an opinion on something, they are either incapable or just too stubborn to listen to an opposing argument.

I remember one time there was a thread discussing who the best WR in the NFL was, and I listed something like 1. Andre Johnson, 2. Calvin Johnson, 3. William Franklin, 4. Justin Gage, 5. Brad Smith. Now to anyone with a brain I was obviously being sarcastic and listing three Tigers' players since I am a huge fan. But apparently nobody has a brain here because everyone freaked. Four different people put negative points on my reputation arguing that Housh, and Fitz, and Moss were sooo much better than Gage and Franklin, and even though I don't care at all about reputation points I thought it was really sad that they could be so offended by a joke.

And then in a discussion about Bulger where everyone was saying if he could just get some protection he would be a top QB again. I simply said, "The only times he has done well is when he has been sacked over 40 times." It was completely true, I just found it ironic. Yet one guy flipped a sh!t over me saying that. He apparently thought I was saying that Bulger can only do good when he is getting sacked and he claimed I had no knowledge about football, and had never watched a game. Of course I knew this guy was an idiot, but for some reason I get an official warning from the AvengerRam guy saying it was "Completely uncalled for" for me to defend myself after he said all that about me. He also said that I just have to know when to stop as if my argument was terrible and that the other guy was 100% right. Now this might have been because from what I saw Avenger Ram is one of those people I was talking about earlier that will not listen to any opposing arguments (especially if anyone says anything bad about Bulger). But that just pissed me off so I never came back to this board until now.

Bulger and the Rams terrible play today just reminded me about how much I hate this board and I thought I would come here just to vent.

I know what everyone is gonna say, but I don't really care, because after this thread there is a good chance I won't be back again.

                  5 Innovations I Just Don't Get
                  by AvengerRam_old
As I approach the end of my fourth decade on this planet, I marvel at the many innovations that make daily life easier, more productive, more informative and more entertaining. That said, there are a few things that the youngsters spend their time and money on that I simply do not get:

                  1. Ringtones
I know, I know. Its uber-cool to have your phone play the theme from Aqua Teen Hunger Force when it rings, but is that really worth the $10 you spent to download it? Come on, its just a noise to let you know someone is calling you.

                  2. Text Messaging
What is the fascination of typing little messages on a 2 x 2 cm keyboard? Wouldn't it be easier just to call? Or, dare I say, just to wait until you see your friend the next day?

                  3. The MP3 Player as an exclusive music listening device
The whole music downloading trend, planned or not, has played out like a drug dealer's strategy. First, everything was free. Then, people got hooked. Finally, the price was jacked up (as an aside, I still don't get how that Napster guy's not in jail). MP3 players are great. I have one myself. But I don't see how it replaces actually buying albums. Sure, you can download an entire album, but most don't. Most download song by song. In doing so, you miss out on the great non-single tracks. I just hope that the MP3 age doesn't kill the great B-sides.

                  4. The In-Car/Van/SUV DVD Player
Though my kids would love one, my wife and I have resisted the temptation to buy a car with a DVD player. Kids should look out the window every once in a while. They might actually see something interesting. What's worse is the number of times I've seen someone driving alone with the DVD player on. What are they doing? Listening to a movie? Watching at red lights? Not watching the road at all?

                  5. In-Dash GPS Devices/On-Star
Whatever happened to looking at a map? Or, dare I say, just knowing where you are going? The worst of these are the ones that talk. And what about On-Star? Isn't the notion of a faceless company having the ability to monitor every move you make, unlock your door remotely and dispatch the police, fire department or EMTs to your vehicle sound just a little too Big Brother-ish?

And so, before I drive off on a route that I, and only I know, while listening to a CD player, with my phone that rings with the tone it came with, let me leave you with this thought...

                  Head Coach Scott Linehan

                  December 18, 2007

                  (Opening Remarks)

“We had a number of guys that were somewhat limited. For the most part we had full participation for the majority of our team. We did limit some guys based on a short week.”

                  (On LB Will Witherspoon)

“Will’s toe is still a little bit sore. He practiced. I don’t think he missed any reps. He might have taken every one.”

(On if he likes a short week after a loss)

“I’d rather have it after a win. For this time of year I didn’t know how I’d feel about a short week at the end of the season, when I saw it on the schedule. Being the way that it’s worked out and how it fits into the last two games. It’s good timing. There’s a lot going on around here with Marshall (Faulk) coming back and having his number retired. That will be a good change of pace for us.”

                  (On Pittsburgh’s defense)

“It gets pretty exotic on third down. It’s pretty much what you get from the Steelers on first and second down. When you get in third down it gets pretty interesting. That’s where they do a lot of their damage.”

(On if Pittsburgh’s defense is similar to San Francisco’s third down defense)

“It’s very similar. Most of the 3-4 teams are getting to that. A lot of them are mirroring the third-down philosophy and even the 4-3 teams. They get to these exotic 3-4, third-down blitz packages.”

(On if he will keep the game plan simple)

“There are some carryover from the last couple of weeks just because of the amount of time we don’t have to rep plays. We still have to prepare for a different defensive front. The match up things that come up with playing a team that has some good defensive personnel.”

(On RB Steven Jackson’s play this season)

“He’s been playing exceptional. The four straight games where he’s had a 40-yard run, that’s phenomenal. In 2002, we had a similar deal with Michael Bennett who had five or six games with a 50-yard run or more. Steven seems to be doing it every week, now that he’s gotten himself back to 100 percent. Steven’s a competitor. He wants us to do better. He wants us to have a better football team. That’s one thing I don’t want anyone to misunderstand. You see a guy that wants everything to improve including our football team, our play and everything else. What he wants to really get done is to do things with his play and also step up in a role of a leader.”

(On why Pittsburgh is so tough to run against)

“They have a scheme that’s difficult at times to find cracks in. They are very well coached. They do a very good job of taking away those cracks and seems that you need to have to have those two, three or four long runs. They...

                  Head Coach Mike Martz
                  Thursday, December 2, 2004

                  (Opening Statement)
“It’s 49er week. Big week. We took the extra day off like we always do after a Monday night game. We’re trying to get these guys back physically. Today will be a Wednesday practice, tomorrow will be a Thursday, and we’ll do some light work on Saturday morning. We’re excited about being back in the division with this game, and the *****, here at home. We’ve spent the last few days as a staff preparing for this game, and we’re ready to go.”

(On playing the ***** on their down year)
“I don’t think that ever has anything to do with anything when you line up. Whoever it is, whether it’s the ***** or anybody else, if you coach or play this league long enough, you understand when you line up it’s hard every week, no matter who you are. Nobody takes anybody lightly. The ***** certainly, defensively, are very stout. I think they are playing better than they were earlier, and I thought they were very good earlier. They play with a great deal of emotion, and they fly around. They present a lot of blitz issues for you. I think they are somewhere around 15th in the league on defense. They have good people, outstanding linebacker crew, and they make you spend a lot of hours preparing for them. They are a good football team on defense. They’ve struggled somewhat offensively at times. It seems to come together at times too for them. It will be a tough game.”

(On if opponent’s records fools some players)
“I think some players do. I think this league is full of players that do that, that’s why they don’t win. You can never do that. I think young players have a tendency to do that. They have not been through that, and experienced a season to know how hard it is week-to-week. In a veteran group, you won’t find that happening. Not on a team that wins.”

(On if he is anxious to play this week)
“Anytime you lose, you’re anxious to get that feeling out of your stomach. No matter what kind of game it was, and that one (Green Bay) was a hard pill to swallow. You’re always anxious to line up and play again.”

(On if he thinks the Ram’s defense plays with the same intensity as the *****’ defense)
“No we don’t. That’s what we have to resolve. It’s a major issue for us. We’re not like we’ve been at times. I think we have some guys that are afraid to make mistakes. They are very tentative. It’s not a ‘want to’ issue at all, or having heart, or being tough, it’s not any of those things. We’ve just got some guys that are very tentative for various reasons. We’re trying to get them away from that and get back to playing with a smile on your face and leaving the ball carrier in a bad mood.”

                  (On the *****’ blitzing packages)
“They are kind of selective in terms of who they play. I think, anywhere from 50-60% of the time, you’re getting some kind...

                  by talkstoangels61
You know, i'm usually not one who talks about anyone but, seriously Mad Mike you have to take the responsibility of this season period!!!!!!!
Honestly, who in their right mind still thinks that this guy is the one that you want to lead you into battle?.............He has absolutely destroyed this franchise period!
You drafted most of these guys, you hire the coaches, you call bs games, you run guys out of town, you think that your a genius, you need to be demoted!
Before any of my fellow Ram fans decide to get reply a negative back at me,you had better think about or at least ask your self this,What has he really done for this teamthat Any high school coach (IMPO) could have taken the talent that he has had and could have done the same thing that Mr Martz has done with this team!....Thusfar!!!!!!!!
I for one am sick of this man as our headcoach! He has to stand accountable for the play of this team! Yeah, i know that he doesnt throw, catch, tackle or run the damn ball but,he's the reason its happening whether this team has just given up or that they are that bad as players!
I chose to believe that MM is not a leader! or should i say a headcoach
I'm disgusted with this man as a headcoach,i truly have no ideal of what this man is like as a human being but, i do know this ,HE IS NOT A HEADCOACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4th down 6 minutes left down by 14 and he punts! .........JOKE.......Take a look at yourself mikey before you go pointing fingers again! Your just now addressing your problems, o-line is playing pitiful, your just now figureing this out! Ive been saying this for such a long time! DRAFT NEEDS........................O-line and D-line instead qb's at safety and reciever,3 D-line men that still arent producing,aw...........too many other goofs thatyou've made since you took over...........................PITIFUL
