  • Expect a BIG time deal for Rams?

" I'm told #Rams are after a big name and if all sides agree, there "may be a significant deal" by Wednesday. Make of it what you will. "

    - Per Twitter.

VERY interesting if you ask me. Who could it be? Greg Jennings? Dashon Goldson? Jake Long? Victor Cruz?

I don't really know who it is, so I guess this should be taken with a grain of salt, but goes by "Big EZ" Radio host for RamsRadio.

Yeah I found it and it looked like he posted it 8 hours ago. I dont trust this guy after looking at his twitter feed he don't seem like the type you can take to serious. More reliable sources would have brought this up by now IMO. I would say it was a better than 50% chance anyway that the Rams strike a big deal with someone by Wednesday. They came out of the gate strong last year.

Re: Expect a BIG time deal for Rams?

Big EZ sounds like Zach "Mc something or other" from Zach and the Coach on ESPN101.

More credible then many people on twitter, but I know some cats and dogs that have a twitter account, so that's not saying much.

That said, I too expect one of the "big fish" to land in the Lou, I however have nothing to base that on but hopes and dreams.

EDIT: they don't call him fastcat for nothing folks!

I'm damn excited to see if it's true, and who it is. If this "big" move is considering signing someone like Jared Cook, I'll be damn dissapointed. I'm expecting BIG.

There was an article on NFL.com saying we should go after Victor Cruz. I wouldn't mind him in a Rams jersey.

Not to get people too excited over this, but with a name like BigEZ, I'm guessing this guy's got ties to New Orleans. Who just became available on the market has ties to New Orleans, someone who would would take care of our need for a playmaker, maybe play the slot every so often and return punts in case Amendola leaves, and would be coming back "home" if the Rams were to move back to LA. Just a wild guess.

I for one would be very interested to see Peyton Manning playing the slot and returning punts. ;)

Good player but can't seem to stay healthy. Hopefully not a lot of guaranteed money being considered here....

Babin deal could complicate the Rams and the Rest of the league

                                BABIN DEAL TOO RICH?

A league source tells us that complaints are swirling among NFL teams regarding the contract signed by Texans first-rounder Jason Babin.

Per the source, Babin received a bump over "way over the normal incremental increase" as compared to his 2003 counterpart at the 27th overall pick, Chiefs running back Larry Johnson.

As a result, the agents of the players taken at number 26 and number 28 now have ammunition for jacking up the demands for their respective clients, and the increase could have a ripple effect throughout the round.

If Babin were the Texans' only first-round pick, the move could be characterized as a calculated effort by G.M. Charley Casserly to start a chain reaction that might squeeze the teams with picks high in the round into overpaying. But Casserly still has another pick to sign in round -- cornerback Dunta Robinson, who was taken with the 10th overall selection.

Indeed, part of the concern is that Casserly will overpay Robinson as well, guaranteeing that the high end of round one will be thrown out of whack this year.

Complicating matters is that the deal this year have a maximum six year term, not seven. As a result, there are less seasons over which the signing bonus can be prorated. With only a slight increase in the rookie salary pool, a spike in the across-the-board value of first-round contract will make it harder to get all of the guys signed with the dollars available.

Babin's official numbers have not yet been reported. We're trying to get them -- but we can't find any agents who'll give us their password for the NFLPA computer system.

                                Did you ever feel like...
                                by AvengerRam_old
Did you ever feel like if you had one day with the Rams FO and an unsigned player (i.e. Steven Jackson) that you could get a deal done?

Maybe its because of what I do for a living, but sometimes I have a hard time comprehending the difficulty in getting a guy signed. Truth is, one of the biggest problems is that a lot of the agents really are not good at engaging in the kind of productive give-and-take that is necessary to work out a deal. They seem to instead take a "give us what we want or we're not signing" approach.

In Jackson's case, everyone knows that he's going to get a lot of money and end up a one of the highest paid RBs in football. Both sides want to get a deal done, and they should be locked in a room together until a contract is signed. This whole "I'm not reporting to camp," and "we're not going to negotiate until you report" is just silly.

Just sit down and work it out. And, if you need my help, I can be on a plane w/in 24 hours. My rates are very reasonable.
