Now, before anyone misreads my intent, I have not fully given up on this season (though, I have no expectation that the Rams will contend).
The purpose of this post is to point out that, while this team has regressed, there is hope for the future. Here is my list of why the Rams may be able to turn things around quickly next year:
1. Core of young skill players all will be back next year (Bulger, Holt, S.Jackson, Curtis, McDonald).
2. Pace finally got rid of Postons and will hopefully open up cap space by signing long term deal.
3. Signs of DT situation finally solidifying with Pickett and Kennedy playing side-by-side (did you notice that Carolina couldn't run the ball inside while they were in?)
4. Defensive backfield of Butler, Edwards and healthy versions of Fisher and Archuleta could be effective.
5. Pisa Tinoisamoa.
6. Four picks on the first day of the draft, including a valuable high third round pick from Miami.
7. Will likely have a more favorable schedule next year.
8. Seattle in a FA/salary cap quagmire with Hasselbeck, Alexander and Lucas all UFAs.
9. Rams have NO significant UFAs (other than Pace, who's not going anywhere), unless you count Tommy Polley (which I don't).
10. If you don't think a team can turn things around quickly, just look at Atlanta and San Diego.
