    What is Az worth???

Do we pay him for next year, or try to find someone to replace him??

  • #2
with proehl retiring, i say keep him unless he starts demanding too much. Bruce should be retiring soon too and that could bump Holt and Az to 1-2.

The main thing is to spend some time working on Az to make sure he's up to it...i.e. fumble-itis

      Assign Az long term...

Ditto through and through w/DJRamfn. For some players maturity is actually detrimental, probably not for AzHakim. I'd like to see him retire as a Ram wizard.

I agree I love this kid!!!

How can we afford him though with Bruce an Holt on the roster and needing to think about signing Fletcher, Pace (soon), Little, at least one more d-end.

Az is going to be a tough sell I think :-(

i'm confident with the front office guys, they'll make it work.

His speed makes him likeable to Martz so it probably won't be that tough a sell, but if the Chiefs throw in the big bucks, it would make things interesting.

Ack! What do you mean by "soon"? I would hope Ike has at least 3-5 years left in the tank. He's only 29 and playing at a level that's arguably the best WR in football. I think that with his work ethic he could play deep into his 30s. (please?)

As to Az, the trouble is that the biggest need to complement Bruce and Holt (assuming they stick around a while) is the need Proehl is filling -- the consummate possession WR, the money-hands guy that will get those 7 yards on third and 6 every time. Az's hands still make me nervous. I like the trade-off between Az's big play potential and risk of drop, but not on 3rd down. I think it will be more important to replace Proehl and go fish for a speed burner in the draft to eventually replace Az.

                Az Hakim
                by DJRamFan
Az is a speedy receiver and returner, but has an EXTREMELY high fumble ratio (i believe 7 out of 100 catches or something like that). Should the Rams spend a lot of time and money to keep him in St. Louis??
Yes - his speed is critical in this offense
                66.67%
                8
No - his fumble problems are too much
                33.33%

                Az Hakim now in UFL?
                by JSherm55
I must admit I'm not a UFL fan so I didn't see this but Az Hakim is still playing pro ball? What fountain of youth does he drink from?

Think we will ever have a guy like?

Isaac Bruce or Torry Holt in the future? I am a bigggggg Torry Holt fan, he is my favorite player.

Bruce and Holt still diving then ?!?!
                by UK Ramfan 83
                All,

Sorry if this has been said before. I'm new to the board, though not to the Rams..(25yrs and counting)

I noticed this trend started about 7yrs ago between Holt and Bruce, and infected the likes of Az, and Prohel a little bit..

They catch the ball in open field, and then as they approach 'ANY' defender that is in front of them....well,.....they just fall to the floor at the tacklers feet?!

I hated watching that when it all started, and I noticed that they were doing it again on Sunday a bit. Now I don't get access to very many games on tv, so I don't know if they have never 'stopped' this practice. It looks lame, and re-enforces the stuff that used to get said by the likes of Joe Horn and some of the Bucc's players, that the Rams play soft..

I'm all for avoiding injury, and no, they aren't the biggest and strongest of receivers, but come on, cover the ball, dip your head, and .....BAM!
You don't see other 'slight' receivers doing it. I don't think I have ever seen Marvin Harrison do it, and he is similar in stature (not size) to Bruce and Holt.

Impetous is an odd thing you know guys! You may just run over a few of them, or at least cause a miss tackle.

Not only that, but it looks real wet!

But hey, is it just me who is seeing it creep back in? (That's if it never left in the first place!)

                :r

                Morton and Bruce...Bruce and Morton
                by RamWraith
The more I read this morining, the more I think we will might see Morton in the Blue and Gold next year.

Could this mean the end of Bruce next year?? Bruce is getting to a point in his career where financial demands are going to be exhausting to a team. Holt is getting to point in his career where he is going to demand BIG money. Could the Rams be looking at Morton for the number two spot after thisseason, and drafting another reciever first round this year to groom for the number 3.

I REALLY think if we sign Morton you all can say good-bye to our greatest receiver ever
