Is it just me, or is all the passion of the team this year solely on the defensive side of the ball. I haven't seen the offense have fun since Detroit. I just don't see the same salt and vinegar on the offense this year. It is like the Rams O has began to believe all the media poison. "Greatest Show on Earth", "Only the Rams can stop the Rams" that sort of thing. Well, wouldn't it be a crying shame if the Rams did stop themselves? They may just do that if they don't fix a few problems.

The 2 loses can be placed solely on the shoulders of the offense. You’re right Tx, the players seemed dazed at times when they don’t score at will. The reality is that it is not that easy. Kurt Warner is mortal after all. It’s like they think “It’s alright, we’ll score on the next possession….then the next and the next and the next.”
It’s reality check time. Let’s just hope we can finish strong and take it into the playoffs. -

Okay, offense is less than stellar this year. But it sure seems that a couple of the Bucs' TDs were practically walked in. I do feel the injuries are affecting the D but they'll correct themselves. We want to think that injuries to Warner's hand are minimal and shouldn't affect his throwing, but obviously that isn't the case. I've seen some good blocking on offense this year, but not in this game. They were getting to Warner too fast and that nasty hit on Faulk by Sapp, well, enough said. I'd like to calm my fears by saying its only 2 losses. But they were to less than impressive teams. Shame on us! The one game that I saw true passion from the Rams was the first home game against the Fish. Haven't seen it since, ESPECIALLY not at home.Last edited by Guest; -11-28-2001, 08:30 AM.Comment

The one thing that scares me a lot and pisses me off a little is when I watch the Rams I see a team that thinks they can turn it on whenever they want against any team in the league. Don't get me wrong, I don't think there is anything wrong with a little swagger and feeling you are the best. What I do have a problem with is the lack of urgency I see in the offense. The past two seasons the Rams offense would take the field and try and score a touchdown every single time, plus they would do it with a sense of "attack, attack, attack". This year I see almost an "oh, well" attitude. I'm probably wrong and if so, then damn, I'm sorry. In the playoffs when we have to go against some strong competition week after week they had better be ready to play and better have the "on" button going at all times. Maybe I'm being too tough on the boys? What does everyone think? jdComment

The passion on both offense and defense seem to have switched places from last year. We lead the league in turnovers on offense, and if we eliminated those, we would be invincible. We have the No.1 offense and the No.2 defense. The offense seems to expect to make big plays and win the game, which isn't bad, but when they make mistakes (which has been very often recently) they seem like they don't care. I don't see as much celebrating or congratulating from the players on offense when they do make big plays. Although the passion on offense does seem to be gone, I won't complain, as they still possess the top spot in the league. I love seeing the passion on the defense, and if our offense can keep the ball and score at will without giving the ball up, the Rams will cruise through the rest of their games and show their true prowess. :king:Comment

I have been wondering the same thing myself. It looks to me like the team is just going through the motions every week, expecting to win because people tell them they will win. They don't look like they are playing with any fire. I know Warner has a bad thunb and Faulk's knee and everything else, but they don't look like the old Rams in my opinion. The explosiveness just isn't there like it was. The bright spot has been the defense.
In my opinion, the 9ers look like the best team in the division right now. They have improved greatly while the Rams are basically the same team as they were in week 1. I would not be a bit suprized to see the Rams get in via the Wild Card this year (unless things change). The "hungry" team right now looks like SF, not the Rams. Hopefully the team gets it's fire back, because right now it doesn't look like it's there.

This is the best offense in NFL history. It's one thing to improve, like the ***** have, it's another thing to maintain perfection.
I found myself watching the Falcons game, often getting angry because we didn't convert or Warner would throw a bad pass. Then I'd look at the score and ask "what am I so mad about? we're winning big." I think I've just gotten spoiled watching the Greates Show on Earth.
One of the hardest things to do in the NFL, it seems, is to be great when everyone says you're great -- it saps a teams drive and strips them of something to work towards. That's why it's so rare for a team to repeat in the Superbowl. It seems harsh to say the O has no spirit considering all they've done and do. We've been waiting for the Rams to return since '79. Let's enjoy it and hope they have the focus and discipline to strive for perfection through the post season.Comment

I couldn't agree with you (and several of the posts)more.
The fact is we do have an awesome offense and sometimes it looks like they are 6th graders playing against 3rd graders...they are just that good. With such missmatches and all the publicity they arne't inspired to prove anything. Two years ago, they really felt they had no respect and needed to prove themselves...even last year the O wanted to prove they weren't a one year wonder. But this year everyone knows (expecially the Rams).
I don't know the answer, but if they can't get pumped up for the Niners and the Saints rematch, I don't know what will.

Yes we won and im happy about that but why could we not move the ball.. We started out good i mean real good but just looked bad at times. Our Defense won this game because if the Cards scored TD's everytime the got in the redzone then we would have been hurting. Bulger looked horrid too. I dont know what was wrong with him really. Only good thing i can see from this is that we barely beat the Cards last year and they are suppose to be better this year. But i just hope this Offense does better. Last week they couldnt score in the redzone and this week they could barely get in the redzone. So they need to improve on Offense. Believe it or not. Oh and Warner did do pretty good but what are 300+ yards going to do when you cant score and have multiple turnovers.. i didnt look at all the mistakes Warner made cuz quite frankly, i dont care it is another game to me. Man o' man, that was a good game. First award goes to the defense for doing their thing. Right now they are the glue that is holding this team together and on top. I love to watch that offense and they are something else, when the interceptions and fumbles are avoided. That point still bothers me, but hey you can't throw too many stones at 8-1. I would really like to see them stick it to TB and NO. I don't think they will have much trouble with TB, but the NO game will be tough. I hope Brooks throws some interceptions then takes off to tackle the man so we can plow him like they did Warner in the dome. I thought our special teams did an excellent job. Their crowd was really into the game and Warner and company did a great job of neutralizing them by scoring. I also liked the way we held the ball at the end of the game by a stiff does of Faulk and Warner. Faulk is amazing, as a player, as a person, as a role model. I thought Warner threw the ball better last night, at least it looked like the thumb didn't affect him as much. I think when they got that first down late with the little flare to Faulk that is the first time I have seen Martz show emotion. Hell, even when he's on someone he seems cool and composed. Former Rams quarterback Kurt Warner can relate to Marc Bulger’s early-season struggles.
After leaving St. Louis, Warner had to adjust to new systems in New York and Arizona. So he understands the transition Bulger must make to new Rams coach Scott Linehan and his offensive system.
Warner offered these assessments of the Rams during his conference call with the St. Louis media:
On the challenge of learning a new system:
“It is always difficult to learn a new system and really learn the ins and outs of it. It’s one thing to kind of know what you are supposed to do, but it’s another thing to get to the point where it is second nature where you can react and respond and see what’s going on and be to the point where you just play football -– especially when the philosophy is so much different than what they experienced before.
“Sometimes it takes a full season. I remember when I was in New York, that whole season I never really felt 100 percent comfortable with what were doing and really felt like I could play football in a comfortable type fashion. It was always kind of a struggle, always second-guessing and thinking about things more than I had to before. It makes you play the game differently and sometimes it is frustrating.”
On the Rams’ struggle to score points:
“When you look at the playmakers they’ve got, the talent they’ve got on the offensive side of the ball . . . it’s always interesting when a team like that can’t score, but we’re very familiar with that. We’ve had a lot of talent on offense last year, too, and moved the ball, just had trouble putting the ball in the end zone. You understand how much more difficult it gets down in the red zone.
“Just with my limited understanding of their offense, they are a ball-control offense where they take the ball down . . . they are going to have a lot of opportunities, probably within the 20-yard line, maybe inside the 10-yard line. But the thing that is hard about it, you come to understand when you’re trying to throw the ball inside the 10-yard line, it gets a lot more difficult. In the old offense, you would get a couple touchdowns a game on 30-, 35-yard pass plays or run plays.
“That’s what we experienced last year. We moved the ball between the 20s, but we never got a lot of big touchdowns so we always had our backs against the wall on short fields trying to spread teams out and throw the ball, which makes it very, very difficult. That’s what happens when you have a ball-control-type offense.”
On whether he has talked with Bulger about his situation:

Listening to Mike Martz's press conference on Tuesday 12/18 the players have to love this guy. He stood up for Hakim, stating that he is coached to look in front of him to view where the oncoming defenders are at, and the problem lies in his feet positioning. I don't know if I buy that but that's his statement, how can you catch a ball if you are not concentrating on it. Praising Kurt & Grant on the best games of their short NFL careers. Standing up for his players when they wanted challenges. That may burn us in the playoffs but you got to like the aggressive offense. All the other teams in the league except us and San Fran are BORING. RUN-RUN-PASS-PUNT. LOOK FOR RAMS TO GO 14-2, huge blowouts againest Indy and Falcons. Once playoffs start, What do the Bears have? we beat SF consistantly finally, Philly nothing, watch the Pack.
