Rams to host joint practice with Chargers during training camp
    by ram3057
    Alden Gonzalez ESPN Staff Writer

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Rams will host 15 open practices during training camp, including a joint practice with the neighboring Los Angeles Chargers on Aug. 9, the team announced.

Rams rookies report for training camp on the campus of UC Irvine on July 26, with the veterans following July 28. The first practice will take place July 29 at 3 p.m. PT. All open practices are free for the public. Gates open 90 minutes before the start of practice and select players will sign autographs afterward. Here are the dates for the Rams' open practices: July 29, July 30, July 31, Aug. 1, Aug. 2, Aug. 4, Aug. 6, Aug. 7, Aug. 9, Aug. 10, Aug. 11, Aug. 14, Aug. 15, Aug. 16, Aug. 17. The Rams' joint practice with the Chargers will begin at 4:30 p.m.

The Rams and Chargers (Jack Hammett Sports Complex in Costa Mesa, California) will train roughly six miles apart.

The Rams trimmed their roster from 90 to 86 players in the week that followed their offseason program. Center Demetrius Rhaney, wide receiver Marquez North, linebacker Reggie Northrup, linebacker Teidrick Smith, defensive back Brian Randolph and defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker were all let go. Walker was released amid reports that he had been accused of sexual assault in Lafayette, Louisiana, but a source said the move was made primarily because the Rams didn't see a place for Walker on their 53-man roster.

The Rams also signed the rest of their rookie class, agreeing to terms with wide receiver Josh Reynolds, outside linebacker Samson Ebukam, defensive tackle Tanzel Smart, fullback Sam Rogers and outside linebacker Ejuan Price.

    Next up: Training camp.

"Training camp is always an exciting time of the year, and we’re looking forward to welcoming our fans back to Irvine for Rams football,” Rams first-year coach Sean McVay said in a statement. “From a coaching perspective, we are eager to see the players transition what they learned during the offseason program to training camp, and our practice with the Chargers will be another great opportunity for us to prepare for the regular season.”...

LA Rams’ training camp experience will include beer gardens for fans
    by ram3057
By Vincent Bonsignore, Los Angeles Daily News

    POSTED: 07/19/17, 11:56 AM PDT |

The Rams will open their second training camp in Southern California in less than two weeks, and much like the team that will take the field at UC Irvine beginning July 29, fans can expect significant changes to the look, feel and operation of the practice sessions that are open to the public. The team said its objective is to improve the fan experience. After listening to the feedback from fans after last year’s training camp - and getting the green light from new coach Sean McVay to implement changes - enhancements are coming to improve everything from protection from the weather to better access to the team. “With the overwhelming response last year by the fans, it gave us the opportunity to engage them afterwards and ask how was the experience and how can we do better,” said Jake Bye, the Rams’ vice-president of ticket sales. “There are some key elements we’re going to incorporate into every single practice that are a direct response from what fans told us and, really, from us observing the 16 practices last year and the way fans behaved and interacted and the access points they had. What was important to them. That became the driver to all the enhancements. “The demands on the fans’ time and where they can spend it has also increased. You have to respond to that and be in front of it. We’re asking fans to give us three or four hours on a Saturday or Sunday or a Wednesday afternoon, so that environment has to be compelling if you want them to come back, or for them to share with their peers their positive experience.”

    Among the changes:

    • A shaded seating seating area on half of the bleachers on a first-come, first-served basis. “The one thing we absolutely learned last year is it can get very hot in Southern California in late Juy and August,” Bye said.

    • A daily fan tunnel through which players will pass on their way to the practice field. Each practice, 20 fans along with a guest of their choosing will be selected to form the tunnel. Fans must pre-register for the chance to take part in the Fan Tunnel and will be notified by the Rams 48 hours in advance of their respective date. Fans will be able to register at

    • An expanded Rams Fan Zone featuring the Rams Digital Photo Booth, an interactive kids zone, a combine presented by 24 Hour Fitness, Rams Legends Autograph Area on select camp dates, and merchandise and concessions available for purchase.

    • Beer gardens on each side of the field to serve fans 21 and older before and during practice. “The fact the access is so good, and you’re so close to the football side of things and the players. It’s a unique experience that really happens only once a year,” Bye said. It helped, he added, that McVay embraced the ideas. “(McVay) has been agreeable to everything,” Bye said. “We would never put a strain on...
